How does cost the service?
Hello friends
My Submariner 116610 in half a year is going to turn five. I think it's time to make a service. Apart I want to change it for a used 16613 or 116613 but I want to deliver my watch in impeccable condition. Anyone know the cost of the service in New York? I guess in the service also polished all the watch no? Thanks a lot. |

Around $800 for a basic service. If any major components need replacing (bezel, crystal etc) they are charged for but they will let you know beforehand. You can choose whether they polish or not.
Unless you have already negotiated a deal which includes you servicing the watch, it is unlikely you will get this amount back in added value. Usually the buyer decides whether to service. |

A five year old watch that keeps great time with no issues does not need a service! Don't waste your money. You will not recoup it if you sell the watch.

I think you would be better off subtracting the cost of a service from your asking price.

If the watch is telling good time and working fine, I would just get it water tested.

I have to say my 14060m has just come back from RSC and I am amazed. its like a new watch. They even put the bigger crown on which makes the watch even better. And the quality of the polishing is amazing, with amazing edges.

If I'm buying used without a warranty I build in the cost of service.

If I see a watch for sale that's 5 yrs old or newer and has been serviced I'm a bit skeptical that something may have been wrong with it. Otherwise why would it have been sent in?
In other words, doing a service doesn't add value and may even raise some concerns or doubt if mentioned when you sell. Just my opinion. |

Recently there was a 2015 Rolex for sale on the forum, in the listing it stated " just received a full service". I questioned that comment but never received an answer. Something like that raises a huge red flag! Don't service it if it's running fine.

No need to service just yet if it is running fine, keeping good time, and have enough amplitude.
