Problems with crown?

Hi guys. Does anyone else think the crown on this Air King isn't screwed down? I have asked the seller but he hasn't gotten back to me yet about whether it's broken or not.

It is clearly NOT screwed down. But that in itself does not mean it is broken, of course.

True, it is rather odd not to show it screwed down though. As I say, I've asked the seller about it. Just checking my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.

The tube could be completely stripped & nothing to thread the crown on. Ask the seller specifically if the tube is stripped of its threading...
it's a simple & inexpensive fix to replace a tube if you can get the watch for a fair price.

I'd be more concerned with the seller. Not accusing him of anything, but it's odd that he has never sold anything else on eBay, and all his feedback is from sellers who've sold to him (mostly what appears to be phone cases, and other very cheap stuff). For a guy who appears to be selling a watch for the first time, and doesn't know to screw down the crown, doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.

Why would you ever wear your Rolex with the crown not screwed down? I wouldn't touch this watch.

Well, to be fair...and maybe 'cause I'm over 50 now...I have forgotten to screw one back down after setting the time on more than a few occasions.

Forgotten ok, but he makes pictures, put it on his wrist, gets the pictures on the pc and uploads it, so he is seeing it several times...but didn't mentioned it?

I don't know. Don't think the owner is very careful for his watch. It could be a mistake of course...but it would be a no way for me.

A crown/stem/tube issue, if there is one, is likely nothing major. That said - if you don't get a response to a question: pass.

While on the topic of crowns and air Kings, I'd like to add another question as well.

I've seen pictures online where the crown appears to be screwed in, but leaves l a gap between case and crown.

Is this normal for this watch or is it a thing to be wary about...apparently my 5500 does this too....

IMHO a bit of gap is better than the crown mashing tight against the case before it's fully shut. I take it as sign the crown gasket seal is still serviceable not crumbled to dust :)

You should always have a gap and the crown should never contact the case. If the crown hits the case the gasket at the top will not seat.
