Any Astronaut fans going to be watching the Swigert Gold GMT auction?

This looks like it might be an interesting auction to watch.

Apollo 13's Jack Swigert's Gold Rolex GMT going up for auction in a few days.

Since the photobucket debacle I can no longer post images but here is the link to the auction.

I'd like to get the one he wore on the mission.

A true American hero for sure, and an iconic timepiece!

My question is why would they say "Possibly the Same Rolex Given to Him by Rolex's CEO Rene Jeanneret in Exchange for the Rolex That Helped Save the Apollo 13 Crew" ?

"Possibly"? It makes some difference in the provenance of this watch and wouldn't this be easy enough to verify with serial numbers?

When I see this type of description I immediately read "possibly, but most likely not..."

Now that's cool! I would be very proud.
Did he ever get a thank you from the crew?

A lot of people got an Apollo 13 medal. My dad had it on his home office desk for many many years. I never got to see my dad's work desk and he did not talk much about work because of his TS clearance. Not sure what happened to it. He has never been a person to seek fame and this why he is not mentioned by name in Mr. Woodfill's book. He would occasionally call me from mission control when he would have to stay over night. I always thought that was cool as a kid but gowning up in Space City other friends parents were astronauts. So, my story was really not that cool.

That is an amazing story! My neighbor a couple of houses down is Charlie Duke - backup LM pilot for A13. He and John Young spent quite a bit of time in the LM simulator rehearsing (among many other things) the manual MCC procedure with the very latest guidance tracking info. This critical 14 second burn timing was the impetus for the Speedmaster Silver Snoopy model.
