Thanks to the Explorer 1 commenters.

Hej everyone,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I'm (obviously) new to the forum so am unsure of where to post it. Please bear with me.

I have had many watches over the last few years (a Tag Heuer Monaco, the watch I thought I always wanted among other things.)
However through searching I found your website and have loved reading your passion and enthusiasm for the Rolex brand and watches which has lead me to sell all the other watches I had (with the exception of the 1988 Tag Heuer f1 my father bought me for my 13th birthday..)

Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that because of the way you guys talk about and the love you have for your Rolex's has lead me buy a Rolex Explorer 1 (2005 D serial number) and I have to say, I've had it one day and already I know it's the watch I've always been looking for.
It's like all the other watches I've had were just toys and now I own a 'real' watch.
I was worried that at 36mm it might seem small on my 7 1/2 inch wrist but my oh my was I wrong. It wears bigger than its size on paper and the watches dial and dimensions are about as perfect as I could wish for.

In short I truly believe this might be the most perfect watch ever made.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much for everyone thats posted on here about this watch, and the 214270, you really helped me out and helped delivered me something I'll treasure forever. I will never let this go.

Thank you all.

Congrats on the new acquisition. It really is an amazing timepiece.

Of course, no thread is complete without pics. I’ll post my 214270 but let’s see that 36mm when you’re able!

Congrats! I’ve been eyeing the explorer for a couple of months— just trying to decide between the 36 and 39 — I want the 36 but I’ve never seen one in the flesh.

You could go try on a 36mm DateJust to get a sense of the size.

I really like it too, including the size.
The problem is that I really, really miss Date complications when I don't have them. It's something I always look at often in watches (even having a cell phone/laptop nearby). If only...

I have the new lumed Explorer. I absolutely love this watch. After coming from an Omega Seamaster professional it took a while, about a year, to get used to the no date but it was worth it. I can imagine that if you are swapping between multiple watches, some with and some without a date, then it would be a pain.

Congrats, I have also just bought Ex1 coincidently while I was at Geneva airport. At the time the Chinese sales lady told me that there was a slow sale, she could give me a few percent discount plus VAT deduction.
