Do people comment on the Daytona or Rolex you are wearing?

I get very few comments when I wear either stainless steel Rolex Daytona - my 2011 (116520) or my new ceramic (116500LN), both with white dials. I can't remember the last time anybody gave me a thumbs up or said a word - years.

I wonder if people know and don't say anything or what. I like to talk about watches and especially Rolex.

Sometimes I ask about a watch somebody is wearing and they tell me all about it and seem to know watches and still don't say a word about my SS Daytona. I guess I need to join a watch club to get in any discussion about watches.

Anybody know what I am saying?

Only when I’m at the AD I bought it from. Most people here in SF could care less about watches. Get way more conversations when I had the Apple watch lol.

Most people neither know nor care that it's a masterpiece. Whenever someone does notice, it's because they know what it is, and then they may compliment it if in the right situation. But it's rare.

I have only had 3 comments in the past year of owning - even just a sub-c.
This is surprising to me - but perhaps were all just a bit WIS different?
I think lots of people notice and know it's something special, but just don't mention it.
I always compliment another Rolex wearer on their watches.

Most folks are too immersed in their smartphones to pay attention to anything else, let alone a watch on somebody's wrist.

Most everyone is either too self absorbed or just not into horological appreciation to comment on a watch. Majority of folks have emotional reactions to a nice car and share compliments or thumbs up on a sweet ride more often in my experience. I guess size matters...ha.

I've had a few comments on my Sub-Date in 3 years, just got a TT Datejust and haven't heard a word from anyone except my wife.

I’ve seen a couple of Daytona’s.....didn’t feel like chasing them down to let them know I noticed. I’m sure that goes on a lot. I have received several comments on my Hulk though....just the other day in line at the grocery checkout..

You have to get into someone's personal space to compliment them on a watch. Most folks don't feel comfortable doing so. Before I had a Rolex I noticed plenty, but never said a word.

I'm in NYC so I see my fair share of expensive watches (you can't throw a stick without hitting someone wearing a Sub). These days the only ones that get a comment from me to the owner are: Nautilus, DaytonaC, and any variant of Royal Oak.

Oh, and this one time I saw a guy wearing a Richard Mille and said "nice watch!" :D

I’ve gotten a few compliments from SAs at Neiman Marcus, Ferragamo and Gucci. The compliment though, came from SAs who are wearing Rolex watches themselves.

Only twice. By a former boss, who once asked if it was real. By a co-worker who is kind of a d-bag and wants to get one too.

I get more comments on my Halios Tropik B.

I had a TT LN subC for 4 years, and received about two comments.

I have had the 116618LB for two months and have received over 10 comments and the STARES/ Glances AND EYES are so obvious that it's almost uncomfortable...and that's a lot coming from me. I'm talking from young and older professionals to females older younger, including ppl whom I do not care to attract any attention.

How could you blame them? Look at the damn thing for god sakes

I'm not trying be "liked." I'm honest and to the point. That's my role here. But don't take me too seriously. Thanks!

One time it's been only while shopping for wristbands, the shop owner female took notice my 116506 Daytona and commented how beautiful it was and suggested me to buy a brown band to match the bezel of the watch
In watch shops where I have been everyone can talk about Rolex so I don't take these into consideration

I've only received a few comments when visiting AD's, never "in the wild". I suspect it's a combination of people just not knowing/caring or that if they do know, they keep quiet about it so as not to be rude.

I had a business meeting this week with a gentleman who was sporting a 116503 Daytona. I'm one to talk watches all day. But I wasn't sure whether he was a WIS or not and did not want to come across as rude. So didn't say anything about it.

I had one comment in three months.
My barber telling me: Nice watch.
Most people don't care, notice or say something.
I wouldn't be sure if I'd approach some random stranger with a platin ice blue dial DD, for example, to talk about watches with him.
Would you?

I think people do recognise but it would be quite uncomfortable to comment on an expensive watch. I'll be weary that they want it off my wrist instead.
However my trusty tissot gets complimented all the time which I dont really care lol

Only once. In the middle of my backswing, my golfing partner said “nice watch”. After everyone stopped laughing, I hit a great drive. I remember this because great drives were extremely rare for me. I’m still wearing that DayDate.

I wear long sleeves to deal with a medical condition. No one knows I'm wearing a Rolex.

Don't assume that people don't notice or don't care if they don't react after seeing your watch. It will give you a false sense of the visibility of your watch, as victims of crime around the world have found out. People notice. Rolex has spent beaucoup bucks ensuring that they do, though most are too polite to comment directly.
