Diego Maradonna

Just to let his many fans on the forum know - he`s in Scotland now. He is preparing for a game against Scotland and was interviewed on tv about 2 hours ago. He says he does not regret his "Hand of God" and that when England won the World Cup in 1966 one of the goals should not have counted as the ball did not cross the line. The question I must ask here is : Are you sure he`s not Scottish ?
Only downside to this matter is that Terry Butcher - former Rangers captain and legend - is refusing to shake hands with him. It`s alright to wind up players as long as they are not Rangers ones.
Feet up tomorrow night to watch this one on tv. Might even have a beer.

Is he still sporting a Rolex on each wrist....or are those still in Italy where they were seized by customs?

How would you Scottish fellows feel if he put his paw up your skirt [or is it kilt??] and handled one of your balls? Despite your negative view of us, we Sassenachs would come to your rescue!

not quite. I love Ronaldo but Pele, Maradona then Zidane are all way ahead. Remember Ronaldo is only 25- still young

P.S : Maradonna & Pele in the same level, I agree with you.
But Zidane, he is not in the same level with both of 'em.
But yes, Zidane is a GREAT player too.

that second goal is something else, because it is against top players too. If you had never seen that before you would think he was playing a bunch of fat guys from the pub.

I am too young to fully remember him. An outstanding and gifted player but not quite up with the very very best. But others my disagree

He's a cheat and has no scruples. He was also a brilliant player who did not need to resort such tactics.............A flawed genius.

I'll be supporting Scotland as I always do when they are not playing England.

you are right but he had many other problems i believe and never was able to produce it the biggest stage, the World Cup, as he played for NI. Zidane Maradona and Pele all virtually one at least one World cup single handedly (the teams were very good but they were another level)

If he'd been playing for Brazil, Argentina or the French World Cup winning team, I'm sure he would have produced. One player does not make a team, you need good players around you. George Best had good players around him when he played for NI but Pele, Maradona and Zidane had great players around them.

I know but even with great players in there teams and against them, they still stood out. Zidane at 35 in the last world cup single handedly beat Brazil in the Semi Final, that was one of the most sublime performances in recent times in such a big game. When it mattered most, those three always delivered. I cannot compare Best as he was never in the WC unfortunately

Was watching a tv programme about George Best last night and he was class. Saw him play for Hibs against Rangers at Ibrox but his good years were behind him by them but I am still pleased to have seen him. He was on £2k a week then but he put much more than that onto the gate. Seem to remember him being sent off in a home international against Scotland for throwing mud at the ball as a penalty was being taken.
