Pure Perfection Incoming

Warning: “Pure Perfection” is constantly used here.

About 10 Years ago, I got my first Rolex, a black date 16610LN, I always had an eye for that one, perfect for my minimalist lifestyle, robust for my active life and absolutely no compromises on quality. After owning it for a about 3.5 years, I made the move to my Yachtmaster. Got a deal I couldn’t walk away from. The Yachtmaster had become some sort of a grail, I looked at it as the special sub, at least the affordable special sub for a 21 year old Architecture student/Entrepeneur. Today that beloved Yachtmaster of mine is gone, I decided to part ways, although a terrific watch, I always looked back at the submariner. More flashy, more delicate (platinum bezel scratches fairly easy), PCLs and how much of an improvement the current sub has vs the 5 digit, made me realize it was time to say goodbye.

So today I’m happy to announce I am back in Team Submariner. I got an excellent deal on my Yachtmaster and pulled the trigger on a minty 116610LN. I almost pulled the trigger for a Hulk but went for the timeless classic sub. The King Sub. This watch is everything and more I expected, the fit and finish is perfect, the perfect watch for my active lifestyle, I do put my watches thru a lot (gym, travel, construction sites, beaches and pools, sometimes running, business meetings) and this watch is built for that. I think I might end up giving away my Seiko…

The glidelock is something I’ve always heard great things about it but anything we say about it falls short of the truth, in terms of practicality is pure perfection, may be the best travel feature in any watch. I mean, I have an Everest band laying around here which I used my Yachtmaster on it a lot, I see little chances to put that on the sub. I used a very helpful thread by JJ (May he rest in peace) on how to size correctly your sub. Here's the link https://www.timekeeperforum.com/foru...racelet.12512/

The ceramic bezel is the best in the business, the clicks are so good it puts to shame the Yachtmaster’s bezel. The deep black is just mesmerizing.

I’m not a movement geek but this thing is accurate, Rolex Accurate..

This watch, for a purist like myself and a hardcore OWG, is pure perfection. Yes, I’ve mentioned perfection here a lot, but its my honest opinion. Finally my mind can rest, enjoy this one and never look back. I’ve always been fascinated by the amazing watch stories of people who bought a Rolex and used it for an entire lifetime, in some sort of way I have always aspired to that and this may be the perfect watch for the task.

If you haven’t seen it, this is a great example of the one watch for life theory - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UHBHLzM6Cg

Absolutely Pure Perfection!

Here are some quick shots, expect a whole lot more.

Well...the thought of being a "one watch guy" makes me dizzy and my palms start to sweat.

But if one must pursue this line of logic, then this would be a hard candidate to beat. Congrats!

Congrats and I would agree. Thanks for sharing.

My first Rolex was the same sub about 20 yrs ago. When my son graduates from college I am going to hand it down to him. I have already decided I will replace it with the newest sub. I love the newer bracelets and agree the ceramic is cool.
