UK Dry spell of Batman's
It's become almost impossible to get a BLNR in the UK now from an AD.
However i know of somewhere which are willing to take a deposit.. Is that a good thing? Should i jump at the chance of putting down a deposit, does this mean i jump the line? and show that i am serious (have i answered my own question) |

I do like the standard black ceramic which seems much easier to get.
I just dont want to give this person a deposit, and then end up with no watch whilst the Black Ceramic keeps increasing in price |

United Kingdom AD's are getting in only a couple a year (so they say) and most are saying the same thing. So i expect they're really only selling to previous rolex customers, and first time buyers get nothing?

I put my name down with a deposit in an ad in Glasgow in mid October- and got the call last week for the Batman and gladly picked it up.
Was told they were getting 2-3 a month - even in December. I’d get on the list and just wait. |

Do you think it's worth finding someone that is willing to take a deposit on The Batman? rather than just giving them your name and praying

I think a deposit does make a difference, especially at ADs that don't require one.

Put one down but establish a time limit in writing for when you get it back.

If you leave a deposit and others didn't, that will likely move you up the list. That's how I got my SD43 so quickly. I was supposedly 9th on the list, but after my deposit, my watch arrived within two months. A deposit shows the AD that you are very serious about purchasing the watch if it becomes available.

Ask for a refundable deposit.
If you find the watch elsewhere or the waiting time it too long you can ask your money back. |

David M Robinson typically ask for 25% once their list is open for deposits. They then say it’s 6 months from deposit to collection. As long as they’re a proper AD I wouldn’t worry too much but absolutely make sure it’s refundable. I’d guess it sorts out the serious buyers.

Rolex Batman within United Kingdom
I spoke to all 6 ADs in September and offered a deposit to each. All said that there was no need. I have deliberately tried to stay away from London Town - I live in Essex and have contact dealers from Cambridge to Canterbury...
I did get 'the call' in December but it turned out the dealer was offering me an LN rather than the BLNR! |

I know someone selling theirs here. He got a hulk grey market before the AD called about the BLNR and doesn’t want the BLNR now. Have you tried grey market ??? Let me speak to him and see what he wants as I’m traveling back to the UK in March.

I know someone who's got one. I don't know if/how long he waited though. He's very happy.

Deposit can help but won’t protect you from a price increase, and you could still have to wait a fair amount of time.

Hi op.
It might be an idea to ask the ad if a large deposit would move you up their waiting list.

Are deposits in the UK not refundable? When I looked for my BLNR, I put down two refundable deposits at different ADs. When I found it from a completely different AD, I got refunds instantly processed from both.

Grey market here is horrible for Hulks, Watchfinder are still trying to sell 3 2017 unworns for near £9.5K, a 50% premium. BLNR not much better, even black subs are now £8.5K.

I was fortunate to speak with a shop after seeing their advert in City AM and within a month I was or am the proud owner of the GMT Master BLNR.
Only stipulation they had was they would keep the warranty card onsite for a year. Guess this prevents you from getting the watch and selling it on, which I understand and am certainly not going to sell it on! |
