Brand new 5164a in for service already!

Kind of bummed. One month old 5164 was losing 6 sec a day. Couldn't be regulated. Needs a full service. Even though its brand new it will still take 4 weeks minimum. Very disappointed. How did it leave the factory like this? This never happened to any of my Rolex watches.

Sorry to hear this. Bought from an AD? If so, hopefully they can advocate for you to get it even quicker than the quoted 4 weeks minimum.

that sucks, however 4 weeks if that is true sounds really good. Id take comfort in that as it could be way worse.

Just for reference my wife's 1.5 month old JLC broke and is currently at week 12 in switzerland at the moment and there is nothing my AD can do to push them to get it done.

I took it directly to the NYC Service center. They said out of warranty it would have been 16 weeks. So now I am forced to wear my DaytonaC everyday. The horror!

Sorry to hear. I've had issues with brand new Pateks so I know how you feel. Nothing beats Rolex reliability and durability.

Four weeks is great. No matter how great the manufacturing process and QC things happen with mechanical things. Thank you for warranties.

Are you also having a timing issue?

Mine has been acting up as of late too. It was losing 2s at a pretty consistent rate from December up until last week. Last week I wore the watch for a full day, and put it down and it was dead the next morning. Haven't seen that power reserve issue pop up again. However, I noticed if I put it down for a full day after I wear it (about 34 hours from picking it up and putting it back on the wrist), it has been losing 10 seconds!

Should have better positional variance than that – get it looked at rather than just putting up with it.

I agree. Patek Service said mine would have gotten worse over time. Too much money to just live with

I'm going to see if this is a trend that keeps up over the next few days.

In my case, it means a lengthy trip to Geneva as Canadian ADs don't deal with HSWA.

Yes, at least Patek NYC Service is just uptown from my office

Have you tried Brinkhaus in Vancouver as they have an in-house Patek watchmaker that should be able to service the 5164 without having to ship it to Geneva or HSWA?

Can you not grab a cheap flight to NY, and make a day of it?
You might see something you fancy bringing home with you… and I’m not referring to any waifs or strays!

Make sure you take pictures of your watch before sending it in. Also let them know the watch is in pristine condition and you expect it back that way. Then keep your fingers crossed and buy a rabbits foot for good luck! My 5905 had a problem after a few months and went to Geneva for a warranty repair. They fixed it but they also roughed up the caseback removing it. I ended up taking it LA Watchworks for the cosmetic repair at my expense. Not exactly a pleasant experience and Patek will never tell you what was wrong and what the repair was.

Didn't wear the piece today, it is fast 30 seconds from when I set it down last night at 6pm.

To say I'm gutted is a bit of an understatement right now.

had pretty much decided against the 64R cuz i don't really need the extra complication, plus prefer the clean look like the 67 dial.
after reading this thread, i think I'm DEFINITELY staying away from the 64.

To be fair I also had a 5980 that broke, the chrono seconds hand would not reset. They took care of it under warranty, it came back in 12 weeks and was perfect. My 5524G has been perfect from day one, zero problems and +2 seconds per day and that’s the same movement as the 5164.

The 5522 has a superpower, it can repair itself. Probably can cure a variety of antibiotic resistant conditions also.

Joe, that sucks. It happens though, and of course we expect it to happen less with a $30k+ Patek than a $5K Panerai but in reality it probably happens about equally with both!

Hey, at least you have a decent backup!

I propose that we nickname the 5522 the "widowmaker" considering how many casualties were made out of it.

Hahahaha!!!!!

Incidentally my 5167 did have the sticking date issue probably because it wasn’t a 5522.
