just an idea for the for sale section...

ok it's only a suggestion - so don't flame me.

But it's my opinion (and I haven't really been a member on here long enough to have one i know...) that the F/S section seems to have a lot of adverts with people with 1 or 2 posts simply using the section/forum as a place to flip their watches.

Now I know this isn't always the case and as the sticky says TRF has no control over the quailty or authenticity of the items listed for sale.

but as we use on another forum that i'm a mod on.. we have a policy wherebuy there's a minimum post count required to be able to list an item for sale in the section (50 or 100 posts for example)

like I say just an idea.

I think it's a great suggestion and you are looking after our best interests, however ...... even if a new member uses our forum to sell a watch, he might be providing a great service to a long standing member that really wants it.

There is risk, so as always buyer beware. Buy the seller, not the watch.

I would agree,i'm not here to sell a watch but to make some new friend's.I think that 100 post is a good idea.On my local board here in St.louis we kind have the samething. It takes like 250 post before you can sell something.I think that it is a good idea.Just my 2 cent's.Has someone ever got scamed on this board?I was going to make a post about it but just haven't yet.

I agree it's a good suggestion, Andy. But what the mods try to do is make sure no one is using this board for commercial purposes. That kind of post we nip in the bud. So far we haven't had any scamming problems. I think people here are cautious enough that they would check out the seller before sending a couple thousand or more.

Until we see a problem or a pattern, I'm inclined to leave things alone. If someone uses their first post to sell a watch, it's OK with me, but they'll have to go through plenty of scrutiny from the prospective buyers.

but that's my point - a lot of posts shows that you are an active member and to be an active member on here you've gotta be an enthusiast (or at least there's a better chance of this).

Where as if it's your 1st post you have no idea of the sellers credentials or authenticity.
