Well mine is not in your poll, for me my holy grail in a 30s-40s Rolex Prince.Out of the others, got to be the Daytona, but a vintage 6263/65,dont like the modern Daytona at all.

Done a edit on your double post.

Since I'm a pauper and only have one, I put ExpII.

The only other Rolex I'd be remotely interested in having is a rolesium YM.

To me it’s a toss up between the YM and Daytona. I’ve asked myself numerous times before, would I like the Daytona as much if it were as obtainable as say a YM or a Sub? I love the styling and chrono which is why it’s probably my favorite Rolex, but truthfully I think the YM may be the nicest IMO.

Hi Thurnau,

Welcome to TRF with a good question that you've asked.

The Sub and DJ have always been considered the icons in the Rolex Oyster line up. The Sub at 40 mm is probably the most popular in the sports range just because it represents Rolex for exactly what it is - ruggedness, toughness, durability and dependability. Sean Connery wore the Sub is some of his Bond films and I guess the trend just caught on.

Also, I think, the Sub has been advertised a helluva lot through the decades. Most of us never dive, but still prefer the Sub to any of the other superb sports Rolex watches out there.

The Submariner has always stood out as the quintessential Rolex to me and, in my opinion, the ultimate one.

Cheers - JJ

That makes more sense now, I don't dive so I didn't understand the watch. I don't get the connection between a luxury watch and diving. I'd even be scared to wear my rolex to a beach. (Mine is only a week old)I do see sub ads on billboards in my area from jewelers. I notice a lot of people wear them, and I also coincidentally read that they are more commonly faked than any other Rolex watch.

From your post, I guess you have a Sub. Could we see some pics, please?

Thanks - JJ

No, I have a date just. I like the sub a little, and after your post I tend to like it a lot more. My wife picked out the watch for me, and I kind of regret it because I didn't know how to pick out a good one for me. I told myself that this is my first Rolex, not my last:)

I will post a pick on monday; my good camera is at work.
To describe it, it is steel/white gold bezel, diamond hour markers, blue face with the words ROLEX engraved all over the face.

I found something similar to mine on swiss luxury, but I haven't seen an identical one to mine online. http://www.swissluxury.com/product_i...116234bkdo.jpg

That's a beauty, Thurnau. Your wife has exquisite taste. Now at least you have an excellent "DRESS" watch.
Which also means you now have an excuse to pick up a sports watch....and which better sports Rolex out there than this one....the 16610 Sub-date!!

IMO, I think that title goes to either the Exp, or the Exp II. Just my $.02

My TT Daytona is my favorite - hands down (also the most expensive). My next favorite is the TT Blue Sub and rounding out third place is the DJ (don't get to wear it as often as the others).

Don't listen to Mailman, Thurnau. What you really need is this one:

And don't worry about the water. All Rollies are good for at leat 100 m. That's much deeper than your bathtub or swimming pool.
