Speeding up and slowing down
Hi Folks
I remember someone saying if you lay your watch face up or down it can speed up or slow down, which is it? Thanks And happy weekend!

Face up speeds up. Winding crown down slows down. Winding crown up slows down slightly more.
This is general guidance from Rolex. Some references, especially newer references or movements, may not be as affected by position. TRF members have reported various outcomes.

Laying the watch vertically with the crown down DOES slow down on my new model DateJust.

FWIW, my newer DJ41 seems to be unaffected by resting position.

The Breguet overcoil used by Rolex in both the Parachrom and the previous Nivarox hairsprings should reduce positional variations. May make regulating through overnight position less effective... or not.

My 14060M runs at about +1 to -2 during a 9 hour day and on my Timegrapher the only position where it shows a minus is 12 down.
Wearing it 9 hours during the day and leaving it 12 down overnight I can correct it to zero. It’s what we do? ![]()
