SD43 or 5513
Hey watch world - I’m thinking of picking up a birthyear Sub and thinking of trading up from my 50th anniversary Sea-dweller. Both would be long term, which do you think will be valued more down the line? And do you think a birth year piece really has real sentimental value? Thanks!

I wouldn't. You've already got an apex predator on your wrist. Add, but don't trade.

5513 will hold its value better/increase more, but it you are looking for a hassle-free watch that you can wear every day, a modern watch is a better companion.

You can’t create sentimental value. In my opinion a watch made the year you were born that you buy for yourself has zero sentimental value.
I would rather have the seadweller above |

Keep the '43 for all of the reasons stated above.

Personally never understood the birth year watch thing....
I mean it’s one thing if u gift a watch to ur new born son/daughter to commemorate their birth. But to buy an old watch now for high premium just to “match” ur birth year, what is the purpose ? I am really curious. buy the 5513 if u really dig the watch (it’s a beautiful reference after all) But I say keep the sd43 and create ur own sentimental memories.

You asked which would have more value, definitely the 5513. And no, I don't believe in chasing birth year watches because you never know exactly when it's made. The serial lists are just an approximation from enthusiast submitted data of when they bought their watch.
