Watch Appraisal

Any suggestions on where I can get a cheap watch appraisal for Jewelers Mutual?

It's for a brand new watch, so I just need it to state the MSRP of the watch along with the specifics.

Thanks!

Your location in Texas would help.

Did you pay MSRP? If so, a store receipt counts.

this whole appraisal thing is as close to theft as it comes. The insurer covers the replacement cost. So they don't need a nonsense "appraisal" of the existing piece, they just need a price sheet for the replacement piece.

Yes!

And when the “appraiser”
simply looks up prices on the internet and puts them on his letterhead and sends to your Agent...

I've been asked for the appraisal by JM for all my watches when initially insured them.
Try original seller or your local Jeweler.

When not bought at an AD I got it from the seller.

I had some Rolexes appraised recently. I had to reach out and correct the appraiser on one of the watches - which noted the incorrect serial number and the notation the watch was discontinued which is not accurate.

I think my attorney charges less per hour.....

For new or modern watches, the insurer isn't as worried about the value of the timepiece (they will go by replacement value from the new sales receipt for example) as they are with proving that you are indeed the owner in possession of the watch. An official appraisal helps confirm that to them.

I insure my watches with riders on my home insurance policy. Even though I might send in an appraisal or a sales receipt to add a watch to my policy, they still (after 15 years of doing this hobby) ask my to swing by their local office to show them the watch.
