Let my 114060 run down ?

Hi everyone, I’ve had my new 114060 for almost 2 years. As it has hardly ever been off my wrist, it’s never stopped or hardly been wound up. Just wondering if I should let it run down and stop occasionally and wind it. Does it matter if the spring is aways wound up?

No, I don’t think there’s any benefit to letting the mainspring wind down. Keep wearing it and send it in for a general service every 7 years or so. If something is wrong with the mainspring or beat they will inform you and repair it. Many keep their watches on a winder when not being worn so they are nearly always fully wound.

Seriously. I think my short run may be over. It becomes more of a joke each day. Makes me not want to wear a Rolex, frankly.

You are treating your watch the way it was designed to be treated. Continue doing so and all will be well in the world.

What’s with the elitist snobby answers here? It’s a fair enough question.

I agree. Unreal. OP ignore those people. If you don’t know much about automatic watches that was a legitimate question. Just wear it my friend. You can’t hurt it. If it runs down then wind it back up and reset it.

Even if you don't wear it at night, it still wouldn't run down and stop. Most people I suspect only own one Rolex and the average repair interval is 10 years.

Yes, let it run down once in a while, then re-wind it.

This is going to allow the mainspring to completely uncoil, as much as it can inside it's barrel, and then get an even tightening.

It is often recommended by the RSC to cure some odd beat/timing issues.

I think that's pretty cool you've kept it going non-stop all those years! The longest I've had it running was only 4 months.

What I do notice is that after each time the watch stops and rewound the time keeping is slightly different. Like went from 1 s slow to 1.5 s fast after letting it stop and then winding it back up

Now that was extremely helpful and informative.

Also, even if you wear it constantly, a full wind once in a while, couple of weeks interval, also helps.

I have my 116610LN running with not stop for 2 years too. I use one day the other Rolex and return to the Sub, I think is the intention of a perpetual machine until service of course.
