Scarcity and Price of Original 116660 D Blue

I just browsed through Chrono24 and there are very few watches and high prices close to 16K on these models. Also noticed DavidSW does not have any in stock what is going on with this watch ? has it become another rare and valuable discontinued SS ?

model 126660 is not available but must be reserved ( 3, 4 5 months)
this makes the previous most precious sought after and expensive

Well it is the first and discontinued. Has a more domed Saphire ( as described on Rlx forum) , smaller bracelet, different caliber ( which some watch maker think is better, article has been posted here),broader lugs, no crown at 6 o clock

And the watch I will never sell. I love it.

It’s a beautiful watch! I personally prefer it over the newer model!
Was offered the new one and turned it down!

Chrono24 prices are always very high. I see plenty of them all the time here on TRF. Actually the second gen. one seems to be the one I see less of. Anyhow, it is a beautiful watch but I doubt it will ever be a desirable collectible, they have made so many of them, usually scarcity drives collectibility. If anything I always felt the all black dial one was the one to get, much less popular... Gorgeous watch anyhow...truly.

I don’t care about collectibility with this watch, as I will never sell it. However as it was the first edition i guess it will be highly demanded in the future. A first Rolex sportsmodel is usually sthg special. For an unused here in Europe you would pay between 12500-13000 Euros.

absolutely true !

I don't have many watches but the only one I never sell is the Deepsea.
I don't know why.... but I feel it is more mine, more suitable for me

In a few years it will likely be the rarest version.

I actually prefer the old bracelet. I find the wider one digs in too much on the 126600. I imagine it would be the same on the 126660. I prefer the comfort of the old one.

Actually, as a couple days ago/week ago I thought it was one of the better buys at the moment considering the current craziness. Seeing like new ones go for around what you pay at an AD, around msrp plus tax.

Yeah the watch easily commands original acquisition costs plus tax, which means it is selling for at least 2K over that by a reputable seller. Interesting these comments about the nicer crystal.

What specific do you like about the old model? I thought the new version has more balanced case/bracelet design.

Not sure why anyone would prefer the first iteration over the second. I didn't even consider the first.

I think there was a discussion on German Rlx forum. The Saphire of the new one isn’t as domed as the old one
