Rolex Daytona 6262

I am thinking hard about this Daytona... any thoughts? Should I be nervous about servicing it in the future? Looks like it’s been in a safe for a while.

Any thoughts at ?

Is it water proof? Any experience w it in the water? Probably a bad idea!

Must have been switched... how much does it hurt the value? Everything else I am told is original. Dial is authentic.

I’m far from a Daytona expert but the case with pump pushers was an early model. Maybe 6239/41. The whole “oyster” phrase referenced to the screw in pushers that waterproofed the watch. Assuming everything is authentic, it’s technically a Frankenwatch and was put together using at least one other component from another Daytona reference. It has value because the watch is pricey but I’m guessing maybe 10-20% less. Given the high value of these references it could mean thousands. Again, we may be wrong and with such a high value I recommend you go to an expert and even possibly pay a fee for appraisal.

Rolex Daytona 6262

I’m told it is a 6262, with a replacement dial. I’m told all original, I’m told dial is original , priced at 50k.. any thoughts? A very reputable dealer.

It’s hard to price these things. I’ll let an expert do it. Have you tried checking listings or sold on eBay? Could give you an idea

FWIW I’ve been told before that a dial is the main value in a watch. So it’s important it’s untouched (the dial). One thing to replace it but make sure no repairs made to the dial etc

You should be able to find an example without service dial for 50k.

Is there any truth that this dial is worth more because it is in great condition and has the big red Daytona.... or is the dealer just feeding me all the wrong stuff? He has been very truthful in the past and have bought and sold several watches.

Definitely a 6263/5 service dial, and not a Big Red. I agree with the above, that you should be able to find an all-original example of a 6262 at that price point.

Walk away from it...either squirrel away 10-25k more and get the real deal or spend 50k on a perfect watch bc this watch will be: a) scoffed at by people who really collect, b) lose more value than buying a new car and driving it off the lot, c) is a watch that is only value in parts and d) be a PAIN IN THE ASS TO RESELL if you choose to later.

This is essentially a service watch. Think about it from the perspective of a 1675 gmt; those are minty with box papers 20-25k+, but you can get a cobbled together service 1675 in the 5-6k land. What you are looking at should be in the teens in my opinion.

Who Dat and RIP Dr. John.

Just curious why in the world you would want to wear this in the water?
