The damndest sight

Yesterday afternoon I was at an upscale shopping center where, adjacent to the supermarket sits a jewelry store. They sell engagement rings, diamonds, rare coins, and a collection of higher end watches. I've lived in my current city for nearly 14 years and have never been inside because they're not an AD and, I suppose in my own, self-admitted, stereotypical, WIS-snobbery, had always regarded them as some sort of a nicer version of a pawn shop.

Big mistake because it's been years since I've seen as many SS sport model Rolex in the case. They also had several DJs and OPs, as well as a Cartier Roadster and Tank, Omegas, and Breitlings (not familiar with those brands so can't tell you which models).

Mind you, everything is pre-owned; however if that's what you're after, it's an impressive selection. The manager let me handle as many as I wanted, and they all (to my eye) looked pristine. They had 3 Daytonas (TT and 2 black dial), 5 Subs (2 Bluesys and 3 black dial -- 1 from the 1960s), 1 DSSD, 1 Sea-Dweller, 1 YM (platinum dial), 3 GMTs (1 Pepsi, 1 TT, and...wait for it...1 frigging COKE!!). GMTs aren't my jam, but I'd never seen a Coke, and it was really something to behold. They're selling it for $10K, btw. He said it was from the '90s ('95, I believe; although I'm not familiar with GMT history).

I know people say, "no pics, no happened," but the manager was gun-shy about pictures, which I respected.

Wanted to share the experience on TRF, and if any of you would like to know more info about the store, feel free to PM me.

I believe ya.
While in Sydney all of the ADs were picked bone dry. Even DJs and OPs were scarce. Saw but a few.

But in The Strand's Vintage Watch Company and Time Keeper shops they have the many SS models. A BLNR was selling for AUD 27K.

Guess it's almost the same everywhere. None in ADs but many in pre-owned and greys.

Cheers

What's the shop called? They should have a website. I've no issue with used, here's the shop I got my watches from.

Same here in Stockholm. The grey dealer has multiples of absolutely everything. Great for actually trying the prices on but useless from an ownership perspective if you want them at retail.

Went to a pawn shop.

They had no less than 5 blrns blros lvcs

Everything but the blue skydweller.

Guy told me each day people come sell him the watches. Of course.

Yet the inept owner would only come down a whopping 500 bucks on a 29k watch that wasnt in ss after 20 minutes. I walked out and he didnt even care. Not shocking. But he lost out on making money that day due to ineptitude.

He sells diamonds. The draw is the watches. It is a shame. He doesnt want to sell watches without you buying some junk diamonds.
