Thoughts on my 5296G Calatrava with a classic vintage Rally Racing Perforated strap..

What do you guys think of the 5296G Calatrava on a Rodania Swiss leather rally racing strap? I think it gives it a vintage feel without ruining the classic elegance of the simple Calatrava. I’m 35 years old so maybe this gives it a younger and more contemporary look without sacrificing Patek DNA. I don’t know. Thoughts?

The racing strap looked good on the 6000 you sold again but it doesn't work for the 5296. It seems like the 5296 is another one you just got but don't really like that much... Didn't you post elsewhere that you are going to get rid of it again?

Yes. I bought the 5296G new last year but I never wear it and am consolidating my collection to focus only on grail pieces that I’ll actually wear, so offloading the 5296 as well. With a Patek World Time in my collection, I will just never wear the 5296.

No problem. Curious to see where you'll end up in a year or two.

I'm going to put it on my Patek World Time and see if it works. If not then I'll sell it.

That strap needs to be on a chrono.

Sell...

The racing strap works even less on a World Timer than on the 5296. Seems like pimping your all-metal plane w carbon flaps...

Lol. I won’t post any undignified photos of the venerable Patek World Time on this commoner racing strap.

As long as you can use it to grate the cheese I think it’s worth it. A guy your age should always have a cheese grater on his person.

Nah, doesn’t work. I think a regular calf strap will work to make it look a little more casual.
