Information: 1978-1979 GMT Master 1675

Hey everyone,

Had an opportunity to pick this one up via the friends/family who has owned the piece amongst several others for the past couple decades or so. Watch has been worn daily earlier on in the ownership but less so the past few years.

I'm definitely a modern watch kind of individual and have only dabbed in vintage Speedy's in the past, but with the mixture of friends/family ownership, the price, and general research before hand was worth a shot in my books. I will be taking this over to my local watch maker shortly (former independent RSC) but would value some quick thoughts on the piece as I know there have been many dials versions, bracelet options, etc. with the 1675.

Quick Info:

Model: 1675
Serial #: 5.6 million
Age: 1978-1979
Dial:? <--MK 1V?
Lume: Good shape, starting to patina.
Case: Appears to be a light polish, I can still see some of the original finish. Caseback most noticeable polish, but the pictures do make look a bit more exaggerated.
Bracelet/Clasp: 550 end links, 62510H, with stretch
Papers: Yes, comes with original punched papers with purchase date from 1980. Caseback sticker appears to be stuck on the front of it as well. (no box, etc).

Needs a good clean and service, but the watch appears to be run really well considering it has not been serviced during their ownership.

Would love some info if anything does not appear correct and/or needs to be adjusted.

Cheers!

That's a fantastic watch. Appears to have been polished slightly but otherwise in lovely, very collectible shape

That's a bad ass time piece right there! Love that watch.
As noted, light polish to it (nearly all were at some point this old) but excellent and I prefer the jubilee to oyster bracelet.

Looks overall pretty decent. Hands are service units. 550 end links are correct for 1675 jubilee. I can't make out what the clasp code is, in order to know if the bracelet year matches the case.

Thanks everyone!

I’ll try to grab a better pic but I think it says 62510H? Or is it a different number.

62510H is the bracelet model number, but on the clasp there's a code which represents the year of the bracelet was produced. Usually a letter followed by a number. It's in your picture but I just can't make it out in that photo.

Looks like C11 or G11? November 1978 or 1982, depending on the actual letter.

The dial is a Mark V. Please, what's up calling this out incorrectly 1665 fan? You do realize there are several threads on GMT dials here and elsewhere. There's no need to cause anyone anxiety over one of your speculative guesses when there are plenty of resources for these dials.

Appreciate the clarification on the dial version! Thanks bud!

Happen to have a link to the dial threads?

...

Just a small update. My local watch marker (former authorised independent RSC) took a quick look and popped open caseback. Everything checks out fine with neat markings inside that coincide with some of the previous service history (prior to the past couple decades). Hasn't been serviced since the mid-90s. Did pass a pressure test. I will likely have a fresh completed shortly. Been running very consistent for the past 3/4 days otherwise and I refuse to take it off the wrist for now. Haha.

Serial number matches the papers. I forget to take a snap shot of the movement when they had the caseback off, but it was a lot cleaner than my 1601 I owned last year (was focused on asking questions about the rest of watch with them).

Appreciate the everyone's help!

...

I've gotten the jubilee adjusted to my wrist size, but since it is a bit stretched, anyone advise against wearing it after I had it cleaned? Thinking of getting it repaired or simply wear it on a strap.

You could also try Rolliworks In Campbell near San Francisco they too will repair your Jubilee bracelet. They did my American TT jubilee, and yours doesn't look nearly as far gone as mine was. Plenty of examples on this forum. https://www.rolliworks.com
