I was wondering how the waitlist process works for new models after they are announced in BS 2020. I was told that although the new models are announced in March they won't start delivering until maybe June or even July from my local AD. Anyone have a better understanding of this?

What is the waitlist? The list does not exist.
You have 6 month to become a VVVVIP at your local AD, only then you could get an allocation.

i believe they are announced in April this year, and like the last 2 years probably start rolling out in Q3 or Q4

And if you don't have a previous relationship like ninja , we all have no hope

When I asked to be on the list for the blue 5726 (the day it was announced), the dealer said it would be a few years wait at the earliest, and I am number 2 on the list.

I've bought 3 Pateks and 1 Rolex at the dealer, so am not some super VIP.

Most ADs actually go to Basel and request allocations there. What they get is anybody's guest. They have firm offers to buy selected hot models when they are announced on the Patek site from their VIP clients who buy up everything. Orders deliver starting late summer through the end of the year. Later rather than sooner is the practice. Bottom line, sourcing a new model unless its a total dud is nigh impossible except through an on-line reseller in the release year.

I think it best to wait and let things settle out, but you run the risk a model is short lived such as was the 5270G-0018 for example.
