What Would You Do?

I have a ceramic daytona with black dial, but have an opportunity to trade for a new GMT Batman on jubilee plus $5500 cash. My AD has so told me I'm close on list for a pepsi or Batman. Let's here some opinions

I'd pass on the Batgirl plus $5,500 cash offer.

Tough to answer.

I wouldn’t downgrade from a Daytona to a Pepsi or especially a Batman.

I’d parlay the Daytona into something precious metal.

I'm not a fan of the Daytona so I would do that especially with $5500 back into my pocket. It sounds like a fair deal to me.

I can’t emphasize enough how much I wouldn’t do that trade. The BLNR on jubilee is NOT difficult to source. You’d regret that, two days after you got the BLNR.

Either one of these. I don't like the Daytonas as they're short a date function. I'm so used the the GMT and having a second time zone noted, I'd find it hard to function without it.

In terms of value it sounds reasonable. Problem is ... you know what you think about the Daytona and you don’t know what you think about the BLNR....

Are you jonesing for a new watch? If so, I’d save and add

Doesn’t seem like a great deal to me and I like the BLNR better than the Daytona. If anything get the GMT when yours comes in at the AD and sell the Daytona

Daytonas are so overhyped (with a market price reflecting it) that I’d cash in on that overhype if I really liked the GMT. You get an excellent watch and a good chunk of cash. Of course, if you’re not sure about the GMT or love the Daytona, then pass.

I know it’s a minority opinion around here where people fawn over the Daytona, but that’s what I would do.

I would do it but just because I’m not a Daytona fan. Strike while the prices are high.

Sell the Daytona and buy the GMT at retail you'll end up with 10k cash

I don’t understand your motivation to do this. You’d prefer 2 GMTs and no Daytona?

Regardless of what might be up next from the AD, this deal is a no from me.

The daytona was never watch I was searching for. I randomly walked in and AD and put together a deal where I was able to purchase it

This

At least wait until you get a BLNR at your AD then keep both for a bit before making your decision
