I've already been priced out. Sadly early brass movement T's got into absurd pricing territory in November, and haven't stopped since, even with the turmoil in the world. (I'm not even going to touch the R's.)

Should've picked one up when I could've at $125k a year+ back. :(

Lots of folks talk about how Govberg is manipulating the market, but these auctions (with super strong results) in Asia are what are really driving the market, and pricing, in my mind.

edit: Not disagreeing that Govberg does have large power on the market, but I believe their pricing has always been reflective of auction results. Especially when you consider many of the FPJ they sell via Watchbox are sold in Asia. When they saw large prices being realized at auction (started just last November), they bought up what they could and moved prices up more inline with those results. Remains to be seen how long demand stays up and high prices can be sustained. And as others have said, you are really only seeing high prices on the CB, and a bunch of discontinued stuff (Ruthenium, brass, Resonance and lately the Centigraphe).

Some greys cornering the market, and it’s doable with such low production numbers 800/900 a year

It is not so much the greys as FPJ himself who is influencing the market. For already a long time, FPJ has actively bought back his own pieces on auctions and the secondary market. And it has worked.

Patek did exactly this, bidding up their pieces directly and via proxies, greatly inflating prices. I hope it works as well or better for FPJ, it will help them thrive to an even greater degree.

Indeed. Patek still does this, to this day.

They also secret-shop the grays.

This through a global pandemic. Imagine when we get back to business. These stars are impressive. The CB did not perform as great as I expected, still over MSRP.

The Calendrier (my grail -- how I regret not picking one up for low 30s six months ago!) went for 53k including buyer fee, far less than what Govberg is listing them for right now!

Which Octa Lune did you get? I purchased a 38mm recently and absolutely love it.

Octa Lune Automatique 42mm new last April. I've bought a few nice watches from George, starting long enough ago that I once passed on a new CB at retail.
They are all lovely...

Should the results of the auction be an inspiration to hold onto my brass movement Resonance or sell?
