Sea-dweller 126600 ?

I have been offered a Sea-dweller from my AD and although I am looking for an Explorer 2 or a SS Sub date I think it will be a little too large for what I have which is a small to medium size wrist.
I currently wear a 116613LB and this is just about the right size but feel the 43m and 191 grams maybe too much for me to take on.
Has anyone got this watch and have you had this model? If so your opinion would be appreciated.

IMHO you really have to wear it a while to know if it’s for you.

I’d ask myself if it’s for daily or rotation wearing. I’ve owned mine for 3 years and for me at least, it’s strictly a rotation watch not a daily wearer. It’s heavy which I know many people seem to like, and the caseback isn’t ideally suited to my wrist. That said, the overall size of the watch is absolutely perfect on my 7” wrist.

Only you can know, but IMHO you have to purchase, size and wear it a while till you know if it’s for you.

I find the SD43 more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than the SubC, in fact it has replaced it completely.

They don’t wear much bigger than a sub, if at all imho. They certainly have more wrist presence and out of the two I prefer wearing the SD.

Do you find it as comfortable as the Sub to wear for long periods?

I have small wrists, I have the 126600 version and it wears fantastic and is my favorite go to daily wearer. I hear they improved the bracelet and feel on the 226600. Like the German car maker used to say, “you will like it”!

Yes. Both feel the same to me. One of my first watches was a tag aqua racer divers watch which is pretty heavy so I’m used to it.

I agree with the comment that you have to wear it to know for sure. I loved mine, but found it painful to wear over time and sold it.

I have owned several SD43's since introduction and it is a fine watch. Big, heavy and it stands out. If you have the wrist size and like the weight and size then go for it. I currently prefer the Submariner-C ND for the size and the well balanced dial. You can not go wrong with a Submariner and if you are asking you might already know the answer.

I was in the same boat. I prefer and enjoy more the SS Sub and went with it.

Diver extension removed my SD43 weight is 180gr.
The redesigned bracelet width make this watch wears and sit perfectly well and as low as a sub. In my opinion, snug and behind the bone wrist is the best way to properly wear this watch. I don’t even feel it’s on my wrist anymore.

I don't think the weight would be an issue. I actually prefer that is has a little heft to it. However if you think the Sub is the right size for you I would avoid the SD43. It will definitely feel like a step up in size. No point in buying what you don't really want. My wrists are large and I love the Daytona. Unfortunately it is too small for me. Sometimes we have to accept the limitations that our wrist size puts on us and hold out for what really works.

I've owned both the SD43 and sub date. My preference was overwhelmingly the SD43. I have a larger wrist but honestly, I don't think that was the reason. It just felt more masculine and I liked that. I like the SD43 so much that I bought the TT version last week. Ultimately, as a few posters have mentioned, you have to wear it to know which suits you better.

OP, check out post 36 in this thread as it was a really well thought out response to casebacks and heights.

Post 37 below is excellent too

Bottom line, the case back shape determines how the fit and feel of the watch works for you IMO

I've been loving mine and the Hulk has been sitting in my case even though the hulk is purchased later.

Having had a few old/new Subs/SD and DSSD I can honestly say that the overall proportions of the SD43 seem to hit the sweet spot. Its not ovelry large (thick) as the DSSD but it has more modern presence than the slightly small Sub line. I'd say the SD43 really is the modern well sized perfect Diver from the crown. As always YMMV.

The so called SD43 in the image does not show a cyclops! This must be a DSSD, I think.

It's a SDK. But exact same height as the SD43, so that’s why I thought it appropriate

Stick to the SS sub or Explorer II

I have to say that it is a touch on the big side I have a superocean 44 with Chrono. Don't get me wrong I love my watch but when I'm wearing it 12 and 14 hours a it's a bit much on top of that I wear it at night a lot of times. I find I need a break from it sometimes it's a heavy watch but not just that it's large around your wrist and gets in the way. I would say stick to your original plan

SD43 is the perfect size IMHO. I'm a big guy with small wrists and it's scale is perfect, whereas the Deep Sea is too big and the Sub not big enough.

With that said, the 42mm Explorer II is also the perfect size.

To be honest, I have turned down 3 SD43s over the years. I love the watch and have been so close each time to pulling the trigger. However the sub size just suits me better. I have 7 inch wrists and the SD43 is just a bit too heavy and thick. I have decided the 40mm Sub/GMT works for me.

Love the DS43, and in fact I hardly wear my hulk anymore because I love the bigger size.
And before that came out, my go-to was the SD4K because of the thicker case. But since that watch retired, I have not worn it as I want to keep it perfect to pass on down someday.
On a side note, I also love the Deep Sea, and again really enjoy the bulky watch...

Once you wear an SD43, there is no going back. Sub's/GMT's etc will no longer have the same appeal. Siding with the SD43 was one of my better decisions despite the random lubrication issues with the new 3235 movement.

I have all of those, but have large wrists .I believe the DSSD is for large wrists.
My 116600 is my favourite wearer .My other favourite wearer at the moments is a 16613 (There is just perfect balance in design to that model !) .On smaller wrists the DSSD will be top heavy .Its not a watch you wear tightly ,must be free to move on the wrist.

I received the Sd43 last month and was not sure how it would appeal and ride on my wrist compared to a 40mm watch. By far my favorite and now my daily go to.
