I do not believe Rolex releases actual production numbers. When we read about current total Rolex production the qualifier "estimated" is usually added to the number. Part of the mystic of the brand.

Its actually an interesting question. How many Subs are there in the world right now? 500,000? A million? 10 million? 100 million? How many Rolex total? The world population is 7.8 Billion as of April 2020. What percentage of the world population is that? Are Rolex owners in the 1%? The 0.1%? Not that I care about exclusivity or rarity -- I like the technology the history and the style, that's why I wear Rolex -- but it's interesting to ponder... How would we make an educated guess?

I have heard that Rolex makes millions of watches and Subs are ubiquitous, but where are they all? Sure I see them from time to time, but by all accounts folks have a watch box full of them in their safes.
