Good question. Not sure why all of the inventory wouldn’t be locked up.

I would think so as well that all would be in the vault. $2.4m is a lot just to have out while the store is closed (and possibly has been for weeks).

Conspiracy theory, they wanted to have everything stolen in order to claim the insurance?

2.4 million in Rolexe's sitting around after hours not in the safe. If that is true, I doubt insurance will cover it.

$2.4m in damage... I can see that.

Lost merchandise...where is the vault and interior security cameras? These places can’t be that superficially vulnerable..:right??

I can't see how this is possible without some very clear negligence on part of the AD.
Unless, of course, they gained access to the vault somehow?

This is the Watches of Switzerland store on Greene Street; I have walked past many many times. It makes no sense that they did not have these locked away, considering stores in SOHO have been closed since March. Very strange.

And they carry Rolex but also a lot of other brands as well.

Bummer.

I quote directly from the article:

“The Rolex store is empty,”

Yes, that's what we've been saying for over a year!!!

Did the article mention if the wait list was also stolen? Because money can be replaced but the lost time of all those poor people waiting for their Rolex is irreplaceable.

The store’s spokesman said “no watches of any kind were stolen, as there weren’t any on display in the store. There were simply windows broken and some vitrines smashed.”
Was that added later to the original story?

Umm what did they steal?

The story read “according to the store spokesman no watches of any kind were stolen”

High end jewelry I suppose or am I missing something?

Regardless just plain sad. Is it supposed to be protesting or an excuse to smash and grab?

Beat me to the punch...

I’m as confused as you I guess

Not to mention I’d assume all high end stuff would be locked in a heavy duty safe or vault. I would find hard to believe inventory was just laying around but I’ve never worked in a jewelry store so what do I know

They stole the wait list for $2.4 mil of Daytonas, BLNR and BLRO's and SS SkyD's.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I’d imagine every A D is removing all the watches they don’t have in stock into a more secure magical place in never never land

No one read the article. Frankly I’m not sure how it was even published with these discrepancies.

The store’s spokesman said “no watches of any kind were stolen, as there weren’t any on display in the store. There were simply windows broken and some vitrines smashed.”

The Cops don’t know the lock away policy and probably assumed everything was stolen
And thus misreported to the tabloid news.

Then it was a bit of a pointless article, as nothing was stolen.

Just sensationalism and scaremongering.

With the update the article makes no sense at all.

Title: $2.4M worth of Rolexes stolen from store.

Story: Storeowner says “Nothing was stolen”.
