Birthday present

So I’m looking at getting a watch for my wife. She’s not at all into them but will wear one when she dresses up to go out. A couple to a few times a month. She had an old cheapo that broke.

I would buy her a Rolex but she really doesn’t want one. And she can’t really appreciate it.

My question is I was looking at the Tudor Claire De Rose, 34 mm steel bracelet. Very nice watch and I think perfect for her. Is there anything else to consider? Thanks

X2. Cartier is a very nice choice. Panthere de Cartier or maybe a Maillon de Cartier for a more unique look.

x3 on Cartier. Two months ago I bought my wife a new Cartier Tank Solo. I negotiated two additional straps..so she has Black, Blue and Burgundy. Easy strap change so she can dress up or down. Plus..the Cartier dealer actually wanted to sell us a watch!

My wife has the Claire. It's an amazing watch. Very elegant and has some Cartier cues. We tried similar Cartier watches and the Tudor build quality seems better. Cartier seemed "dainty"

Also, regarding the Claire, you can't tell in pictures but it almost has a iridescent silver dial. It really is a stunning watch in the metal.

Newsflash: She’s not into watches. Don’t buy her one. Her birthday isn’t about satisfying YOUR interests.

Not into watches in the sense of not buying and expensive piece. She bought a POC watch last year and wore it when she got dressed up. She liked it. The clasp broke and it got tossed. She’ll like another one.

I would suggest that you look at the Cartier Santos also. Very elegant. It goes well with jeans and T-shirt as well. Good luck.

Yeah I agree with this. Maybe after all her other interests are fulfilled she may want a watch? No idea of her interests, hobbies and not implying she doesn’t have those areas already covered, just throwing out my two cents.

If she wants a dress watch Cartier. Timeless and my wife loves hers. For a sporty watch I got my wife a 34mm OP.

I picked up a 30+ year old DJ for my wife for our 15 yr. 36mm with mother of pearl dial for around 3500K. She wears it most days. She would never fully appreciate a 10-15K Rolex, but I really think she enjoys wearing this watch despite the fact she could probably never have envisioned wearing anything beyond the $200 watch I bought her 20 years ago. Take a look at old DJs. They are very versatile. Dressed up or down. Elegant or sporty. And relatively inexpensive considering the 36mm is less appealing to a lot of guys.

Might I suggest asking her to join you to the AD and then she can choose what she likes? Watches are extremely personal and very difficult to get right if you don’t know a model they like.

Cheers!

I'd go for a cartier tank too for the wife. Classy plus you can borrow it sometimes :) or an rg 31mm dj. I also thought about putting my daytona on a strap so we could both share it, but I just couldn't do it :-S :D

Just got my wife a Cartier ballon bleu last week and she loves it. Offered Rolex but she liked the style of Cartier better.

Best advise is to let her pick. My gf likes her Cartier Francois small or something like that. Similar to the photo above. However she would of probably appreciated anything, as it was a hand me down gift and she doesn't care about watches or the brands image.
