Well...

Perhaps the software doesn't recognise one word posts and dashed lines as valid posts..

Are you trying to reply to an existing post there. If so, read the rules.

3. All negotiations relating to the sale and purchase of the watch should be conducted through PMs or e-mail. DO NOT CONDUCT PRICE NEGOTIATIONS IN THE OPEN.

I honestly think that the 15 day/post rule should be altered. Watched many people do the minimum just so they can post in the classifieds, I think one should be part of the community first. Just my twopence...

Greg, are you suggesting the waiting period should be longer? We thought about that and settled on the 15/15 rule after much deliberation of the pros and cons of (a) having a waiting period at all; and (b) the proper length.

IMHO, I think it should be a case by case basis. 15/15 is a good MINIMUM, but then there should be a review process, otherwise we may be littered with dishonest and/or obnoxious sellers, which will make us no better than sleaze-bay. For instance, there are several people here that do not post anywhere else AT ALL, just the classifieds. TRF is a community and it should be treated as such. I just hate to see when someone does the bare minimum just in order to be allowed to list in the classifieds.

I am a firm believer that TRF is the best watch forum on the net. Period. The camaraderie and willingness of members to help one another is second to none. The mods do a phenomenal job in keeping it that way, and I, by no means, am an expert on how it should be done. I just don't want this place to be taken advantage of. Perhaps, there should be some sort of an approval process for people to list in classifieds AND reviews on whether they should maintain that privilege. Again, please don't think I am telling you how to do your job, but in the last few months maintaining the integrity of TRF has become very important to me.

This is a tough area for any forum to make hard and fast rules that both offer some protection for members and are not overly restrictive.

In the end the real responsibility rests with the individual member to use their best judgment to decide whether to do business with a potential buyer or seller. On this forum this can be much more critical because expensive items are frequently bought and sold here and accurate description and authenticity are so important.

If a person is a long time member with many posts, it is reassuring to other members.

If a person is a newer member or a member with fewer posts, I would take a hard look at those posts. Are they quality post? Do they contribute to the question or topic of the thread?

If IMO, the posts are not meaningful or appear as if they might have been made for the purpose of building post count, I would be very wary.

As always Caveat Emptor.

Mark beat me to a reply. But he said exactly what I was thinking. It is responsibility of the buyer to check out any seller. And that includes (but is not limited to) the number and quality of the seller's posts here (and possibly on other watch fora). The Sale Board is here for the convenience of our members. We do not police the sales nor do we vouch for the authenticity of the items put up for sale.

ps. I think 15/15 should be increased to at least 30/30 or 60/60.

You didn't have more than 15 posts, as 2 of your posts were placed into quarrantine, because you tried to sell your watch before you were entitled to do so.

Those 2 posts have now been deleted. So you now have 15 posts and you need more than 15 posts to qualify to post in the for sales forum.

Pav, good suggestion...

Also, if they ask why they can't post a FS post, they should immediately be added to the 90/90...otherwise, take the number of days and amount of suggested sale of the watch plus the multiplier (i.e. Pam 1, Omega .2, Rolex 55343981) and multiply it and that should give you the availability of the year you can post again....

The other option could be that you have to be a pledge member in addition to the current requirement to be able to post in the for sale section.

You tried to sell your watch before you were permitted to do so. Most of your posts are merely fillers in an apparent attempt to boost your count. You are not in good shape here. We will be watching you carefully on the FS Board. I suggest that before you post there, you read the first sticky about Sales Forum Rules. You will follow the rules of that Board completely and exactly.

And in view of your track record, it's highly unlikely you will get many bites for anything you put up there. Just my take on it.

That's sorta funny - his 15th post was asking why he can't post in FS... And THAT'S what I was talking about. But you guys are keeping an eye on it, so no need for my interference!

That may very well be true as well as gratuitous one line replies which add very little in terms of real content.
