RG YM 126621 - Surprisingly Good!

Hi all -

Felt compelled to post a review of the 126621 YM after 6 months of wrist time.

For starters, I’ve had ownership experience with the explorer 36, explorer 39, datejust 41, datejust 36 and 16710 (which I still have). Most of which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and miss dearly, particularly the Exp 36 for it’s durability and timeless appearance.

However, the 126621 has proved itself to be the most satisfying watch I’ve ever had.

It’s heft is the first thing I noticed. Weighing in at ~156g, it is by far the heaviest watch I’ve owned which, to me, is what makes it so enjoyable to wear.

The rose gold hue looks refined and understated in dimly lit settings but stands out in an unoffensive manner under direct sunlight. Something that I found YG models cannot quite balance.

My favorite part is the slim case and tapered lugs - similar to the Daytona. It sits nicely under a shirt cuff for formal settings which is a welcome feature compared to the super/maxi case found on the modern GMT & Sub.

I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with this one, but I think she’s a keeper.

Hope you enjoy the photo dump! Included a random wrist shot of my grail WG DD blue dial I tried on at a Florida AD. Also included a blurry comparison pic with my buddies 116500 to display those lovely tapered lugs.

Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences with this beauty.

Cheers and Happy Holidays to all!

I also have this watch. It truly is a beauty. It is difficult to capture its presence in a photograph. Your first photo does that very well, one of the beat photos I have seen if this reference

I just picked mine up this week. Currently my favorite watch that gets the most wrist time, but it's still the honeymoon period. Hopefully I feel the same as you in six months from now.

I really believe that this guy is my second favorite TT in the Rolex collection. (after the CHNR but I am a little biased)

I owned the 116622 for awhile and loved the size, shape, and overall look of the case, hands, and bezel. Then when one of my friends showed me the watch that you own, I was struck by it. It is so good and that TT is absolutely well done with the RG bezel to complement the look. The case is still perfect and the size is outstanding.

It looks awesome on you and I hope that you continue to wear it in the best of health!

Thanks! Agreed - so beautiful yet so hard to capture. Maybe that's why it hasn't caught on yet with the masses.

Congrats! The honeymoon phase was fun but stressful trying to avoid scratching those shiny PCLs. I found it to be way more enjoyable once I got over it.

CHNR is such a beaut. I spent months on waiting lists at several ADs and decided to skip the line for the next best thing.

Thanks for the kind words and same to you

Ok guys... I have this watch too and I am a huge fan. Another perk is that you will almost NEVER see anyone wearing it.

I also would HIGHLY recommend going to your AD and picking up the oysterflex bracelet for it. Completely changes the look and allows you to not stress out about the hairline scratches to the polished center links!

Can you post some photos of it on the Oysterflex please?

Bravo! I think if more people gave the YM a change they would come to the same conclusion as you.

A real beauty! Turned one down at the AD four months ago, regretting it since then...

For those who own this watch, how do you think it looks when worn casually? Is it too dressy?

It’s a sports watch with a bracelet. Not many sports involve dressing up. Maybe dressage.

I'm just thinking of the gold bezel and bracelet -- struck me as dressier more than casual.
