If you got around $20k to spend....

Hi guys,

I need you guys to vote. This is what I love about TRF because of people opinions. So let assume that you got around $20k or close to that to spend.

I got some dilemma between get SS Daytona both black and white or Get either black or white and get PAM 233 or last choice is to get PAM 217.

I always want the SS Daytona and can't decide black or white. That's why I add that to be one of the options but against they're the same watch with different dial color.

However, after I entered Panerai world the PAM bugs have no mercy on me, so it comes to me to consider for 233 (because I got 190H and might make a good 8 days duo)

Or last choice is the PAM 217 Marina Militare, because I love golden hand and it's big!!! and the word Marina Militare refers to history itself.

Therefore,I'm in between Rolex and Panerai now

Btw,my current collection are below: if you guys think which one would make a good choice to my collection.

Yacht Master 16622
PAM 111G
PAM 190H

Thanks in advance and for the participation

The PAM has a black dial so the white Daytona will allow you to mix up the look depending on your mood or what your wearing!

Where's the option for NONE OF THE ABOVE?

There are much better things I can think of with 20 grand in my pocket.

Daytona and 233, that gives you the option of swapping the dial on the Daytona if you don't like the one you choose, and you have the 233 to wear

The only time I had 20k in cash to my name was when I got laid off from work a few years back.
So I can't help you there. I'd have to enter dreamland.

However, if I had that much to spend, it would not be a Rolex or a Panerai that's for sure.

It would be a Patek, a Vacheron or a Lange.

To be honest if i had 20k to spend on a watch i'd be looking at something like a vintage Rolex or something collectable. The reason for that is that prices have come down in the last year for a lot of this stuff and a lot of people are selling, which means it's a great time to buy.

But, in saying that you are also able to pick up 233s and Daytonas for the best price just now, in know in the states you can get a 233 in great condition for about 9k and the Daytona for about the same, maybe a little less!

I forgot to add, the big problem for me with Panerai though is that anything collectable is already taken up, you have to pay the premium to get them, and the likes of a 127 or a 217 are at a high premium just now, i just wish i could for once get one of these special editions before the flippers do, it's not easy following Panerai when you see something you like and know you'll never ever have a chance to buy it except at twice retail.

Love the 233

The Daytona would not even be on my list of wants.

Would you really wear the 217???

217 witout a doubt. As the values keep moving north , you"ll remember " I TOLD YOU SO "
Classic forever . Tell me 1 panerai fan who would'nt want to own one .
I've looked at archives on the forum and people use to sell their 127's for 6-8k.

Thats money in the bank , and artwork on your wrist .

The problem with the 127 and 217 is that Panerai will continue to release special edition 47mm watches, there comes a point when the amount of special editions just waters down the market prices.

I've never seen black in real life.I heard black face is much better contrast with the silver subdials.

None of the above. A Patek Calatrava. And a Rolex Submariner ND. At today's prices, you could get both for 20K.

I'd rearrange the numbers from the 217 to 127 and use any $$ left over for straps...

Just using your choices, Black SS Daytona and 233

hmmm... I have 217, 233 and White Face Daytona. All are awesome. Truly awesome. I think the 233 and the Daytona (White or Black) will be "available" for some time - they are both regular production models. The 217 and the 127 are much fewer in number. IMHO, that makes them automatically harder to get. If you like 47mm - I would probably go for one of those. You really "need" to try on and spend a little bit of time with a 47mm - Find a Paneristi that has one and ask them to GTG and hang out with it before you make the decision. As JF23 said, I would add the 127 into the consideration - especially with $20K.

That being said - if I could only pick one out of the watches I have right now - setting sentimental value aside... I would choose the 233. So, with that being the one must have right now for me... Grab that and the Daytona...

You really can't go wrong. $20k in a buyers market. Hard to beat. In my Opinion, $20k for me still isn't enough to really jump into where I would "want" to be with Patek or Lange - Good Luck... Tough problem to have - lol...

While 217 is great watch, but as GBJIV advises, try it on first. 47mm is iffy size for me

I would say go for 233 and keep change for future as you might find one that you want!
