PP 5320g vs (black) Langematik Perpetual
Friends,
I want to get a perpetual calendar watch for my next birthday (in my family we choose our own gifts ![]() I’ve narrowed down my options to the PP and ALS mentioned in the title. The prices are reasonably similar ($60-70k grey market) but the 2 watches have very different look. I have not tried either one so don’t know how they look on my wrist but just so you know I have 6” wrist. Brand wise I think both have the same pedigree, and while I have not seen ALS in person (I own PP 5230r and APRO) I heard the quality and finishing are better than PP and AP. PP seems to hold value better in general. What do you guys think? Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Does everyone else in your family ask for a pair of socks or bottle of wine?

I like both of them but I think you can get ALS at a better price than PP at Grey market.
ALS is a bit smaller than PP so it might fits your 6" wrist better. PP has a cleaner look, ALS has busier dial but still looks good also. PP has a better brand image for now but ALS is coming up to the same level soon. For quality of finishing, I think they are in the same level.

I went through the same process and once I had the PP 5320G on my wrist it wouldn’t come off.
It’s subtle. I love the case, face design, dial colour, hands, lumed 3D numerals.. the whole thing has muted, unflashy class. |

![]() Very different watches in terms of looks... That ALS is too baroque and busy for me, a clear no from my side. If the 5320G came in black I might not be able to resist but I am not sure about the beige dial. Given that I don't have to buy new I'd go 3940P, not least for the more interesting movement and it would also save quite a bit of cash. |

I prefer the 5320g. |

Id go Patek personally but can't go wrong with either. Is your family looking to adopt more children?

I have the Datograph perpetual and I am bias but I LOVE that watch. It checks a lot of boxes. Can be bought right new as well. FWIW.

I don't know the Lange well - the dial is way too busy for me, but I recently purchased an as new 5320 from Michael Ashton and could not be more pleased. Have the brown leather strap but I ordered a blue one from Patek (HSWA) and believe it looks terrific.
The watch is easy to read at a glance and very comfortable. |

Thanks all for your thoughts. It sounds like most lean towards the PP for good reasons.
I think I lean a little towards PP too now but Lange’s decoration of the movement and the zero reset feature make it hard to let go. I hope I can find them in person and try. Have a great weekend everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Datograph perpetual is beautiful indeed but a little too big (and too pricey) for me.
Are you getting your 5320g from AD? How long is the waiting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have been through the same consideration and went to the AD and Boutique to try on the 5327, 5320, 5940 and the Langematik Perpetual on my wrist.
IMG_27032021_101400_(1080_x_800_pixel).jpg IMG_27032021_101339_(800_x_1080_pixel).jpg IMG_27032021_102145_(900_x_650_pixel).jpg I like all these PC in terms of their looks. They are all beautiful in photos and on the wrist. The first watch I dropped from my consideration was the 5320 because it does not have the micro rotor and it is thicker than the rest at 11+mm. I prefer my PC to be slim. That said, the 5320 is not a thick watch at all. I'm doing this comparison relative to my other 3 contenders. Next watch I dropped was the Langematik. The big date is very useful but I find that I personally prefer Breguet numerals to Romans. It is also slightly thicker (10+mm) than the 5327 and 5940 probably due to the big date complication. There are also some aspects of the sub dials which I find not too legible. That said, the honey gold is breathtaking although it appears whitish in my photo. Last 2 contenders were the 5327 and 5940. Both are perfect as to what I am looking for in a PC. The 5940 is slightly smaller than the 5327 but it looks good on the wrist. The 5940 also has interesting fonts on the sub dials and a squarish watch case. It was a tough decision but I eventually went for the 5327R because I want a rose gold dress piece. The 5940R was no longer available during the time I was looking for all these watches. Hope you find this useful, and good luck to your decision (I had an enjoyable time choosing among these nice pieces). There are no bad choice here and it all boils down to personal preference. ![]() |

Yes, it is from an AD. I ordered it on Xmas eve and the AD confirmed with Patek in January that it will be a June production barring pandemic related delay.
