Patek Hates NJ??

My dealer used to ship from Connecticut to NJ and because he does not have a retail store in NJ, I used to not be charged tax. I was told today when purchasing a watch, however, that Patek has demanded dealers limit out of state sales to NJ. Does anyone know anything about this???

afaik you’ve always had to pay tax, the only difference is that before you had to manually report it and pay it as “use tax” but recently (last year i think?) there was a country wide change where they required out of state purchases to charge tax vs how it used to be where they could just not charge you (this was like a widespread thing for *any* purchases it’s not something patek decided)
