Thoughts on this 1950s dial?
I know very little about this era of Rolex, can some of you experts weigh in on what you see in this dial? Specifically I'm curious about the "ghosting" around the applied indices, is that normal when a dial ages like this? Any other red flags or areas of concern?
Thanks! |

It is perfectly normal to see this on some vintage dial. I do see the aging of dial is consistent and quite a nice one I must say if you love patinated creamy dial. I hope you buy it :)

It is a wondeful watch, with a whiff of Milfgauss, very nice dial.
Don't look for a Encyclopædia Britannica length story about these clouds around the indicies though. Its jut a watch. |

Salmon colored patina it looks like. Killer!! This one will go great with a light blue dress shirt or even an oxford or linen!
Just buy it, shoot us some wristies and let us vote it “summer watch of the year” here on TRF! |

The watch arrived today, looks really good in person. I'm particularly blown away by this 56 year old 1030 caliber. It is reading +0 s/d and 318 degrees on my timegrapher. Wish my 2020 Sub looked that good haha.

Nice - I’ve always liked that style of bezel.

The 1030 gets a bad rap from collectors to repairers. They can be a very good movement and while not quite the masterpiece the 15xx series was...it's a very nice looking movement and it was the first Rolex movement designed from the ground up AS Rolex.

Do you still provide servicing for these calibers? I've seen your posts over the years but wasn't clear whether you were still active or had retired. I always appreciate the insight and knowledge you share!
