Daytona true dimensions?

So I saw in a thread the other day, but can't find it again, that someone claimed daytona's true diameter is 38.5mm? I was wondering whether this is true or not? If so, how is that measured? Bezel? Or case? Is it one of those when bezel ia 38.5 but case is 40? Or is it actually a true 38.5mm including case?

Secondary question, what is the true lug to lug?

Bezel is indeed ~ 38.5mm. If you measure the case diagonally, you'll get ~ 40mm. Crystal is only ~ 30.5mm.

Well no matter the size the Daytona it must be the most over hyped watch ever with many paying crazy money for them, so to the millions of Daytona owners a mm here or there difference don't matter.

Yes, fact. First thing you can notice visually are asymmetrical lugs on steel cases and symmetrical lugs on gold cases.

If you were to measure the true diameter, instead of measuring from a machined flat used to properly locate the pushers, you would find an altogether different number.

The size of the case is from the center, out to the furthest rounded edge, then circumscribed as a circle - hence "diameter".

Measuring across at machined flats p and c gives you a false measurement of diameter.
