Back to Being a Five Digit Guy
Hi all, some of you may have seen my incoming this week of my minty 16013. I have finally taken position of my 2002Y serial 16610.
Having owned 2 six digit subs and a six digit datejust 41, let me say those watches are awesome. I would and did proudly wear these. However I am a believer in wearing what looks good to myself, and for me it is five digit rolex. No better or worse than any generation, just has its own specialness for me. A few pics of my 16610. I think I also ended up a pretty good pair of subs.

Agreed with your evaluation of the earlier models.
"No better or worse than any generation" --- just somewhat different presentations among the Sub lines over the years. My Subs are all 5 digit, and there has never been any interest by me for the newer models. YMMV and that is OK.

Love it! Congrats! I prefer 5 digits myself. I love that the new 6 digit subs solves for the lugs and I know many people love the glidelock clasp but I just couldn’t get over the size of the glidelock. The 5 digit and older clasps are just so much more comfortable IMO. The 6 digit clasps with easy link are perfect though.

I prefer the 5 digit over the 6 digit.

I’m kinda the opposite I moved my 5 digits out - however, the 16618 I kept its a beautiful watch and doesn’t “feel” like a 5 digit to me it’s very unique.

Had a Y 16610. One of the best wearing watches I have owned. But I prefer the 6 series clasp.

You can't go wrong with any Rolex imho but the 5 digit subs are pure tool watches. No bling and still look beautiful

Those are two great watches. You don’t have to worry about polished center links and can really wear those watches everywhere.

I’m with you pal. I appreciate and admire the 6 digit Sub and GMT references for what they are. But they’re just not for my wrist.

I think they all have pros and cons, and wrist size is a factor, but on balance I think I'd pick 5 digit (16610 in particular) as top choice too.

I agree with much of the sentiment in this thread. For me, nothing beats a 5-digit Rolex.

Very nice.
I have a 6 digit Sub and a 5 digit Pepsi, along with an Exp. I am started to feel as if I am “aging out” of the larger size. Though both are considered 40mm (and I have owned a 16610 prior to the 116610), the 6 digit is/wears larger. Most occasions I am more comfortable in my 5 digit Pepsi or Exp. As much as I am hoping for the BLRO, I’m afraid that when I get the call it will wear too large to me. Oh, I’ll still buy it and keep it for my son or nephew. But I hope I find it visually comfortable on my wrist.
