White gold Green DD40 over RG DD40

Hey Guys-

Just wondering if anybody here has chosen the white gold green dial DD40 over the much more popular RG DD40.

If so why? Please post pics! Haven’t handled the white gold DD40 green dial, but boy is it a lot less than the RG version.

Thank you!

The WG is a nice piece, I’ve seen and handled one in person. I went with RG due to having a lot of SS.

The rose gold is obviously the one which will attract the most attention. I have seen both and would personally choose the white gold as it’s stealth and doesn’t attract attention so much.

I chose the white gold as I wear this watch each and every day. It does call attention to itself, but not in a way that RG or YG does. The watch shines and reflects the light elegantly. Though unless folks know what a president bracelet looks like, a cyclops lens and can see the day on the dial; they don't immediately know you are wearing a 40k+ watch on your wrist. Moreover as the Olive Green is only available on the Day-Date as this stands in sharp relief compared to the Datejust.

Great for folks that do not want to call attention to themselves. Though those that know what they are looking for can see what it is quite clearly. Been a conversation starter for WIS in my short travels.

Amazing watch. I don't regret choosing this one. It's pretty special.

I made a post several months ago about how I thought the RG olive was overrated and reminded me of plants in a pot. Something about RG and green doesn't sit right with me when it comes to watches. Prefer the eisenkeisel for RG DD.

But in fairness it comes down to personal preference / skin tone which to pick. I think WG makes the dial pop more whilst the RG blends with the dial more this taking away from the dial.

Plus WG has halo effect potential with the 5711 olive.

Sorry but a Day Date has to be RG or YG in my opinion, I can't see the point of WG, might as well save a lot of money and buy a steel/WG DJ41 on a jubilee

My problem is not with the rose or the green, my problem is having both colors on the same watch. IMO it’s one too many colors. This makes the watch look good on its own, but out of place within an outfit (unless you are wearing just gray and white)

If it were white, silver or blue dial I would agree with you but where does he get the olive dial on a SS DJ?

I prefer on white myself. I’m not a fan of green generally but this mint shade is very appealing to me.

I do think going with WG allows the watch to be worn in more situations and agree with the above that the green dial just works better with WG for some reason. Just pops a little more. I tried on this slate dial at my AD last year just for the hell of it and was shocked how much I loved it. Had no interest iin it n the case, but on the wrist it felt nearly perfect. They nailed the bracelet on this one. I'm considering getting one down the road. The stealth quality of it is becoming more and more appealing to me. This would make a great one watch watch.

Depends if you are a flashy person or not. RG shows out....hey look at me i'm expensive, WG is more under the radar but exudes confidence....its more for you.

Well that’s my watch and wrist just a terrible filter someone used when swiping my photo on IG.

As for which one as owner of both the WG and RG, the RG wins hands down.
The WG is great but the RG is awesome! For me there is nothing quite like Everose.

rg works best in a collection. wg works best if it's your one and only and you want to stay a bit under the radar (hate this term though because no rolex is under the radar nowadays especially with a fluted bezel). it sounds like your heart is with the rg based on the threads you've made so don't settle imo but both are amazing watches. i personally think a day date should be in a colored gold though because of it's resemblance to a datejust but if you already have another yg/rg PM model it makes more sense

Apologies, should have mentioned pic taken from Google. Irrespective of any filter used by someone, the watch suits you very much!

White gold Green DD40 over RG DD40

I equally love RG and the WG with olive dial. Owned both but ended up sticking with the RG as I had too many SS pieces. If you are looking for something with a "POP" I would definitely go RG. The WG version is a IYKYK kind of piece.

I prefer white gold most of the time. When in Vegas, bring on the rose gold. Just chasing the mood

Thanks and no need to apologize. Guys on IG steal my pics and use awful filters on them. That’s one of the reasons I don’t post my watches much any more.

I have WG olive, love it, but I think RG Olive is nicer, but I wanted a WG day date and needed it to be special.
