$850 bracelet repair, ripped off?
so my dads sea dweller (1997 w/93160) fit me a little tight and I was stretching out the links a bit. Talked to my jeweler about replacing all the bars and adding an extra link. Soo he sends it to his Rolex repair guy. Repair man says all new bars, adding new extra link and polishing the bracelet is gonna be $850 (extra link $150 alone). I know parts and service is expensive but I just wanna make sure this price seems right to you guys. I've done as much research as I can and seems I cant find prices for the bars and kinda impossible to buy them anyways. Seems like only authorized people can get them directly from Rolex.

That is very nearly the price of a new 93160
Give Rolliworks in Ca. a call for a second opinion. Their specialty is repair/refurbishment of Rolex bracelets.

I took my Grandfather's Datejust to Rolliworks for my Dad. They serviced the movement and repaired the jubilee bracelet as it was stretched to hell. When I picked the watch up it looked like the bracelet was near new, it was an amazing difference. The watch now gets worn regularly by my Dad and has performed flawlessly. Mike and his team are great, absolutely awesome work. As others have said, he is the go to go guy for bracelet and restoration work. I highly recommend them!

Yeah… there’s no such thing. It’s either RSC or a reputable company (and even then, that’s for you guys out here.) personally I don’t care about anything but RSC and saving a few k is inconsequential to me in the face of dealing with the proper channels. |

I hear all you guys with the rolliworks.. and I am definitely calling them in the morning. My worry is shipping the only thing I have left to remember my dad across the country. I've never shipped a 8-10,000 dollar item across the country either lol.. just the thought makes my stomach hurt.

You can’t say that it is expensive based on what you shared. A full restoration on a bracelet might involve laser welding, detailing the crown on the clasp etc.
Much more than just replacing the pins which is not all that difficult. I paid triple the going price on restoring two President bracelets by a gold smith. Wanted it to be better than perfect. It has been worth every cent.
