Dubai Watch Show

A little bit under whelming. Although Rolex knocked it out the park with these display models. Worth a trip if you live here

Some incredible lack of taste shown here. The diamond encrusted are just nasty looking.

I would have to disagree. Each to their own :)

There is such a thing as too many diamonds on a watch.

I find the phrase that "money can't buy class (or taste)" very often rings true - and it is no more fitting than in the city I call home.

Agreed.

Tacky, cheap looking and overpriced given the standard movements.

Stupid watches for the terminally classless..

Lots of hate for these gems pieces. I found them quite stunning, and taste is of course a very personal thing. Watches these days seem to be very safe, tried and tested. Which is probably why I love Rolex as I am a tradition type of guy, but having seen these has changed my mind. Just seeing these in the flesh though, the workmanship is incredible and I am warming to them, and they are different, like it or not. I did reach out to my AD a couple of weeks ago about the YM42 with Baguettes to place an order, after seeing the review on Watch Eric. Having seen a few iced out monstrosities that are after market, these are on another level.

The meteorite Daytona's for me were ok, I think the black sub dials distract from the beauty of a meteorite dial.

Fair enough, its not hate though, just mild dislike. Looking forward to seeing the watch on arrival. Cheers!

These are show pieces that aren’t routinely seen. In each industry there are seminal trade shows where the ultimate expression of art and craftsmanship are on display.

At least we know Rolex is up to that challenge. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I couldn’t own one because the amount of attention while out and about wouldn’t be appreciated. Also not my persona - but as jewelry they are stunning.

This was actually my favourite watch that I saw there. Really was a fun piece and took me back 40 years, when as a boy I was in amazement of my snoopy watch my mum got me for Christmas. Had that feeling in my stomach of excitement.

Konstantin Chaykin was actually at the show as well. His english is not the best but he had a translator with him. Interesting person to talk to.

Cheers!

Very nice. The iced out pieces are not my thing, but I love the way they flaunt their wealth unapologetically.

How long is the show on for, and where is located at?
I’ll be there in two weeks to check out the expo….and a few other things.

EDIT: Ends on the 28th, I’ll miss it by a week.

Unapologetically and without fear of getting robbed! Amazing what law/order/consequences can do for a society!
