8-bit Christmas

Highly recommend this one on HBO Max. Gets you right into the Christmas spirit and is great for people of my generation (the 1st generation Nintendo crowd).

We watched this over Thanksgiving and from in-laws to my parents to my little wild boys, it was laughter all around for most of the movie. As usual, Neil Patrick Harris brought the goods and Steve Zahn is so underrated.

I was wondering about this one. Did not know Steve Zahn was in this. Good recommendation.

Great movie. We watched it over Thanksgiving with our 3 boys. My oldest is really into video games and has a couple of Nintendo emulator systems, so he liked it. All of us did.

I have always liked Steve Zahn. He's a MN boy, too. ******SPOILER, don't read further if you haven't seen it and plan to****** I was a little bummed that the writers felt they needed to kill off his character at the end of the movie to create that feeling of sentimentality. The ending could just as easily have been touching and emotional without doing that. In fact, they could have used him in some of the final scenes with the tree house to make it even more special. It just seemed like a shortcut to hit the audience with the feelz instead of accomplishing the same goal with better writing.

Oh well, great movie and we'll watch it again next year with the boys!

Ever since Saving Silverman, Zahn has been a favorite of mine. He was outstanding in the White Lotus.

The White Lotus is next on my watch list. I'll have to check out the first episode tonight.

Def was a fun movie. Greatest Christmas gift ever. I still love my NES. Hooked up to my modern tv via retrotink.

Just watches this; great “Christmas Story” vibe for a more modern feel. It was well done and my kids (10 &13) loved it.

NES is was the first gaming system I had and these movie was spot on. I grew up in the Midwest and could relate to the weather, the minivan that my parents drove etc..

When they broke out the power glove, I told my wife and kids “that thing never worked”…2 minutes later from the voice over of Neil Patrick Harris “the power glove never worked”. Funny stuff.
