Calatrava 90th anniversary in 2022

If you were Mr Stern, which model would you take as an inspiration for an anniversary model? Or which vintage model would you love to see reinterpreted with modern specs (size, caliber, etc)?

Ref 96 was the first Calatrava introduced by Patek, and 5196 has been around since 2004, it could be replaced by the anniversary "96". I am not 100% sure about shipment of other AD but mine has not received many 5196 in the past year. This is just my conjecture.

No doubt they will celebrate the calatrava 90th anniversary with a 5711 with a red dial, limited to 90 pieces, with some tacky printing on the back.

Seems a great idea as the new caliber 30-255 PS makes the resizing of the case possible and the small second positioning more harmonious (better use of white space).

This idea is so great, that I would keep it in the box for 10 years and release it for the 100th anniversary. hehe

I am no PP expert but if there was a celebratory 90th birthday watch for the Calatrava would it replicate the size of the original, which I believe was 31mm?

I only hope that they would release a new iteration of the 6000/6006G with the strap of the 6007A.

If I were Thierry I'd wait until the 100th anniversary to do anything special with the Calatrava. As the 6119 is the "new" Calatrava with modern proportions, perhaps something based on this model while still paying homage to the past... somehow?

I would like to have a 5115 with black enamel dial, Breguet numbers, and a case size of 38 mm.

I’d like something with the proportions of a 96 but in a 37-39mm package.

an SA at a major mid-Atlantic AD told me that the 5196 was going to be discontinued, which is a shame in my opinion...

Love the design (especially the 5196P). I would however love to see a new version in more modern 38-39mm, better case-back and caliber (the 6119 is superb). :)

Enamel + Breguet?? Sign me in.

I would dream to have a dial like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK1J5RcPIWg&t=396s

If you love enamel work, do not miss the part about the incredible cover enamel made by famous Anita Porchet: https://youtu.be/IK1J5RcPIWg?t=488

Yes to this. Enamel, Breguet, and the new 6119’s movement. I like these idea very much indeed.

6119g with a turquoise bluish dial something like the Rolex Tiffany OP color.

Kidding of course….

I agree
90th is not really that important is it?

They celebrated the 40th of the nautilus with all kinds of crap. I expect to see something.

Patek might be part of LVMH by the 100th anniversary of the Calatrava.

... and Calatravas might look like Hublots by then ....

if PP brings back a modern interpretation of the ref.96 that would be awesome
if the 6119 came with a smooth rounded bezel as opposed to the hobnail bezel then that would,ve been what i imagine a modern take on the Ref.96 in my opinion

I would love to see a new travel time model, bigger than the last and with no crown guards, maybe for the 100’th anniversary

The Stern family own Patek since 1932 (Calatrava launch). So there is meaning for some. :)

But fundamentally you are right, it is not an important jubilee. (I think that next year 25th Anniversary of the Aquanaut will be more interesting.)
