Availability of yellow gold daytonas

I know everything is in demand and hard to get, but how would you rate these in terms of difficulty to get from an AD compared to SS daytona, Pepsi, sub, etc? Can they be ordered or are they allocation only? To clarify, I’m asking about the classic dial colors like Champaign, black, white etc. I know the green and meteorite are a different ball game..

Please share any anecdotes you have about your experience getting one or trying to get one.

Here’s the one I can’t get out of my head and am shooting for next.

A friend just got one white dial! Truly Stunning in white dial …through my AD.

I think you might be able to try request/order. I t would help if you are a top client/have good relationship.

In summer 2020 it was on display at save AD. I tried on, beautifully but went for SkyDweller YG white dial. I have a RG and love it. Daytona good so much better than Panda (I have the panda, stays in safe)

Hope you get one but go for YG/White dial

I was shown a yellow gold Daytona with a green dial a few weeks ago. It was already spoken for but just being able to see it when it came in was an experience in itself! One day!

All Daytonas aren't easy to get but PM Daytonas are easier than SS except meteorite and green dial.

I was told they can’t just be ordered at will. For the right client sure. Not for me I guess. I wanted the champagne with black subs. They carry a huge premium these days and ADs are sharp.

These are very hard to get at the moment in any PM configuration.

Stainless steel pieces are always going to be the hardest to get. For the Daytona, I would say that the oysterflex variants will be harder to obtain that this one. Now for getting it, it depends on your relationship with the AD as many ADs are not able to order specific watches and are at the mercy of their distributors, but some of the larger ones can.

My AD was able to order one for me in May. Was suppose to come in this month but doesn’t look like it will happen. It is the YG on OF Newman dial.

Thanks for the input everyone. Will chat with my AD about it in the new year and report back.

I can second this. Just returned from a Rolex boutique in California where they are trying to come up with one of these two you mention for me. Based on what I've been seeing and hearing from several ADs for the past 4 years concerning the Green Dial YG Daytona, I might have an easier time winning the lottery...

I don’t know if there is necessarily any pattern here but thought I would chime in. My AD asked what I was interesting in at the end of February, I said sent a pic the 116508 champagne dial with black sub dials. He called me one week later when it came in.

Same thing happened the year before (pre-pandemic by about a month). End of January/February same conversation initiated by the AD about what I was interested in. I said a Sub Date, and a within a few weeks it was on my wrist.

Maybe there is some timing component involved in the hunt. I’m sure ADs and their sales associate would like to keep sales and commissions flowing consistently. If the Christmas buying spree is over perhaps sometime in Q1 is a good time to go in and speak with the AD.

My sense is that all Daytonas, even in yellow gold, are very difficult to get. I started a serious hunt in January 2021 for an oysterflex model and I was very lucky to have one come available for me in September. I was wait-listed at three ADs that I have worked with in the past (all in major cities - one chain, two not). I also stopped by in person at every AD that I could while traveling on business (all out of state) and either got on whatever list they have for new customers or was politely told no. In the end, I was very surprised that the watch became available from an out of state AD that I had no previous purchase history with. My sense is that this was pure luck. For reference, the three ADs that I have recent purchase history with still claim to have no oysterflex stock as of December 2021.

You'll definitely have to work hard with your AD and others to try and get one of these.

I ordered this exact same watch in January and still not in. Grrrr! They did offer me the WG silver dial a month ago which i did buy and its stunning but I’m still awaiting the PN dial.
