Is 36 mm Rolex too small?

I feel this is perfect size for 6.5-7” wrist . How popular is 36 mm Rolex?

Like you will find throughout this forum, it is the classic size. I’m a big fan, though if we’re splitting hairs, would generally prefer 37-37.5mm.

36mm is great. I have a 16030 datejust and a 14270 explorer. The 14270 is slightly smaller than the datejust, but still a great size. 34mm is too small. Used to have a 34mm 15505 and sold it because it was just too small. nothing lower than 36mm in my opinion.

Perfect size imo. I wear my 1603 and 124270 all the time because of how comfortable they both are

I have a 7.25" wrist and think a 36mm DJ looks great on me. I prefer 41mm, but I think people are wrong when they say a 36mm is too small.

Really 40mm is the sweet spot, imho. OPs and DJs are 39.5 which works well. That's for my 6/5in wrist.

36mm is a good PM dress watch size and 40mm is a good sport watch size…
IMO (+) 1mm or 2mm is fine on each but not (+) 5mm…

How popular? Forget about that... You really just need to wear them to know what is best for you.

I have a small wrist 6.5 in and I went from a 36mm DD to a 40MM DD and I am so happy I did.
40mm is my sweet spot.

36mm is the absolute smallest size I would wear.
39mm is the perfect size in my opinion.

Never measured my wrist but I would consider myself in the small wrist club. 36MM Day Date was too small for me. Sold it.

I have a 7.5" wrist and I love the look of my YG 36mm Day-Date. My sweet spot is 38mm though. Wear what makes you feel good.

I have an average wrist, right at 7.5." I have a 36 mm vintage gold day-date, and feel it's a classic look.

7.5 inch wrist and wear 34-42 mm… just depends on the watch.

A 34-35mm 60’s gold dress watch is a blast to wear, and so is a 42mm Speedmaster and a 42mm seiko monster :)

It’s less about size to me and more about what the watch is and how it’s meant to be worn.

People put way to much stock in specific sizes vs the function / intention of the watch.

It's not only the wrist size, but also its shape. On a round 6.5" wrist, a 36mm might look great. On a flat wrist, it could look a tad small. I have 7.2in flat wrists and stick to 40mm and above. YMMV.

40 for professional models and 36 for for DJ/DD/OP is the sweet spot for all wrists 7.5 and under. At 8 inches the 36mm start looking a bit small. Likewise, the 40mm DJs start looking dinner-platey at under 7 inches.

6 3/4" wrist here. 6 feet tall, 185 pounds. My absolute favorite size by far.

36 just sounds small, but on the wrist it's perfection. Give it a shot and you'll love it. You just can't worry about how it looks in your case next to larger watches. All that matters is how it looks on your wrist.

I think 36 is seriously coming back in vogue.

My 36 DD is the perfect size for me.
I wouldn’t mind the DD 40 though

Ffs getting real tired of these posts. What are you even asking? Your thread title asks is 36mm too small? Then you ask the question how popular is a 36 mm Rolex?

Your first post and you waste it on creating a pointless thread.

No, 36mm is not too small for most wrists up to about 7.25 inches.

If you want a 36mm DJ/DD/OP to wear, feel, and look like a 40/41mm professional model, then yes, you will be disappointed. Coming from a ceramic Sub and GMT, it took me a few days to get used to my Explorer 36mm, but man, let me tell you, it's my most comfortable watch. Melts like butter on the wrist.

I didn't want my Explorer to feel or wear like my Sub. I wanted a smaller Rolex, with less wrist presence, that I could wear comfortably all day long. Most importantly, for that style of watch (Exp and DJ), 36mm is perfect for my 6.875" wrist.
