Spoiled for choice

Dear members,

I would not describe myself as a watch connoisseur, but as a watch lover and I am happy to have found my way to this forum. I will soon have the opportunity to purchase a Rolex from the local concessionaire or to be put on the waiting list. I already had the opportunity to try on different models on site. That was a real pleasure. Ultimately, the following models were shortlisted:

126610 LN
126610 LV
126710 BLRO

I really like all of these watches on my wrist, so it's very, very difficult for me to make a decision there. More than one of these watches is not possible for financial reasons and probably also not possible on the part of the concessionaire. Now I have considered using the possible future value development as a criterion. I realize that none of you have a crystal ball. But maybe you are already aware of tendencies that I am not aware of!? I would be happy if you could help me there.

Thank you and best regards
MichLeng

I've been on such a "list" for 5 years. Every time I visit they say "should only be six more months...."

In other words, don't hold your breath

Always interesting to see new member's first post. You never know what you're going to get.

If this is your first and probably only Rolex, then get the quintessential 126610 LN.

All three are great. You have them listed in order of ease to obtain as well.

You may want to consider shifting the Sub Date to a 124060. That would possibly be even easier to obtain..and I know you said you are only buying one, (most of us said that at one time) and if you do buy the LV it will pair better with the non Date version.

Instead of "using future value development as a criterion", why not just get the one you like the most.

I realised:

none of you have a crystal ball but maybe you are already aware of the tendencies of what is the winning lottery number that I am not aware of!?

Did Rolex get so tired of AD complaints that they have been rebranded as concessionaires?

Using "value development" as the criteria is not a good way to pick a watch you love, IMO.

In terms of "tendency", the secondary market value on all of these seem to be actively decreasing from what were/are extremely elevated prices relative to MSRP.

If it is your first Rolex and you plan to wear it daily, IMHO the standard LN and ND Subs are really great choices. That said, the BLRO is certainly a very special watch.

Not sure what’s with all the hate on this thread. To OP, pick the one which you’ll see yourself enjoying the most 10 years from now.

Konzessionär in German (cf. OPs location), or "Konzi" for short. The desire for "future value development" however seems to be universal.

Welcome to the forum! I would say if your financial situation doesn’t permit buying multiple models then just buy the one that speaks to you the most. Value retention/appreciation shouldn’t be your concern; it’s a Rolex it’ll always be worth something, and if purchased at MSRP likely what you paid for it or more, but if the goal is to enjoy it then focus on the model you think you can wear the most with how you dress and your lifestyle.

From your list if I could only have one it’d be the black submariner date. The quintessential Rolex and goes with everything from the board room to board shorts; can’t go wrong!

let me spell it out for you--
high value development potential = GMT Master ii BLRO
medium value development potential = Submariner LV
low value development potential = Submariner LN
