It's about time..........

England beat Australia today at cricket. We won by the narrow margin of 2 runs. This means so much to England fans having been beaten in the first test of a series of five. Sorry in you guys over the Atlantic don't understand the game but as I said earlier, this means so much.

BTW Australia played great.

I actually know zero about the sport but find it interesting and fun to watch. I am amazed at how they get in front of that ball that is like a rock!!

My last 2 trips to Australia have turned me into a cricket fan. I know the basics, but much like baseball there are subtleties that require years of watching the game to understand, I'm sure. I think this win by England would be considered a bit of an upset, right?

To illustrate my interest in the game, I offer this photo of my wife in Lightning Ridge, NSW after a day in the opal mines (during our last trip this past winter). While having a nice beer in our room, you can see what I was watching on TV........she was getting rather impatient with me since every time cricket was on, the TV was on. I don't really get any coverage here with the cable package that I have, so need to brush up on the game as much as possible when I'm down under.....

Well done, England!

I was listening on the radio, and it was about as much a nail biter as I've ever heard. This was sports at its best!

How Flintoff goes, England goes its in the bag this year for sure..

I would not bet either way Peter, even with that great Lancastrian Freddie Flintoff in the team and a Lancastrian captain. Let's see what happens at Old Trafford.

Great match, Adrian. Watched it live last night on Sky TV. What a nail-biting finish. England's win levels the series 1-1 and makes for some more excitement at the Third match.

Well played both sides. Superb game.

I am not sure we understand in the US that cricket is not just an insect Johnny.
