I just called an Omega Boutique...

I was inquiring about the "Ed White" 321 caliber Speedmaster...

The salesman said: "I don't know what that is...???"

I'm not totally surprised. It's not the official name of the watch. These people probably don't subsribe to watch forums, so they wouldn't have any way of knowing this.

321 Caliber Speedmaster should ring a bell though...

I am a regular at a particular OB and I’m almost certain there are 5 regular employees including the manager (it is a pretty small operation). 4 would know what you were talking about. I’m almost positive the 5th wouldn’t - he’s the newest and clear he doesn’t have a full grasp on everything yet. Might be a similar scenario.

I wouldn't bank on it 100%. most sales persons are in the know but some have NFI.

So people walk in asking for batgirls, kermits and sprites. They ask for snoopys, moonwatches, mitsukoshi mods and every nickname under the sun. To us they are common place, but to people who don't spend their free time watching youtube or reading forums, they aren't versed in every current nick name for every model.
You called they didn't know, you have a casual conversation and explain to them what you are referring to and usually it gets easily resolved, no big deal in my opinion.

What's the point of this thread, they didn't know and then what......you hung up and posted it on line.

Well since they didn’t know what it was they spared you the disappointment of being told they don’t have any and the waitlist is fully committed at this time just teasing of course; sorry you didn’t have the best experience there but if you manage to score one keep us posted!

The person might be new in the job. Anyway, I like he admitted he didn't know what it was...we all have gaps in our data base!
