Paperwork Question

Just bought a Rolex from Stein Diamonds. It arrived in packaging and in box as I would have expected. The only thing is that it arrived with only a Credit Card type of identification and no "paperwork" per se. I called and was told that "Rolex stopped printing certificates a few years ago and went to an I.D. card format that contains all of the Rolex watch information such as serial number, band serial number etc.

Is this a true statement, or have I been had?

This true for new Rolex purchases. I do not know the exact date they stopped but it has beena few years. Someone will chim in I'm sure with the exact date they stopped.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Thanks.

I appreciate the quick response. Wife is set to take to AD for sizing and appraisal, but hasn't been yet.

You're fine (this is the way a new rolex comes now, with "credit card" guarantee)

at least 4 serial numbers ago it started; so, maybe 2003/4.

Thanks,
Randy

New Rolex

Thanks for all of your responses. I'll have to get a few pictures together when I get back home next week. This was a birthday present for my wife. I gave it to her in Florida this past weekend. SHe went back home and I came west to work. I'll be back home next weekend.

Meanwhile, to answer some of your questions..it's an "M" series, from Stein. They did a great job and apparently I got what was promised.

The watch is a 179313MDJ, lady datejust with diamond dial, mother of pearl and 12 diamond factory fluted bezel, all original, not a frankenwatch.

She loves it. I hope she loves it enough. I've got to get a few more for myself.

I am glad I joined this forum, but if I keep reading on here as much as I have since I've joined, I'm gonna end up with a two tone sub with blue dial, Yatchmaster with platinum dial and a daytona.....in that order, unless I change my mind, which I do often.

I currently wear a two tone oyster perpetual date with smooth bezel. I am glad I didn't know about this forum a couple of years ago and at the same time I wish I had. If I had, I'd already have added to my collection.

Anyway, thanks for all the input and all the advice.

Very true, credit cards are in, warranty-style papers are out. Enjoy.
