5513 Submariner 1966

Hey guys I have a 12xxxxx serial number 5513, Id like to get an idea of value on. Through all my research, I know there is a lot of differences in the dials. From what I have, I can't tell if it is one of the more desirable ones? I have the box and papers. Any info would be very helpful. Thank you!

Any gilt dial is desirable, you can find a value using auction prices of similar examples. The box and papers won't have much value unless you have the actual original warranty papers stamped with the same serial number as the watch.

I do have the original paperwork, but the serial number is written not stamped.

Check the dial spacings, coronet and E in ROLEX and other markings to get idea.

Dial has lost its 28, 29,30 and 31 makings, but it happens.

It has cheaper US - C and I bracelet too by looks of it so may have originated in the Americas.

The papers pls put photo up. Punched or dot Blue or Red stamped are considered safe, but handwritten a bit of a bun-fight to establish 100% provinance.

Many of those old warranty booklets as depicted had hand written serial numbers. That would not be a concern for me at all.

I never knew the C&I bracelets were cheaper than the Swiss bracelets.

Is this a Bart Simpson dial? I saw those online and couldn’t personally see any differences between them and the regular gilt.

No, compare them again, looking closely at the shape of the coronet.

They go for are about 2/3 to 3/4'rds of that of a 7206 European in UK.

Yes, of course many were handwritten, and if the bottom left hand corner blue printed date on the other other side is roughly of same era then I guess it's fine.

Personally, if I was buying say a piece with only a booklet with a handwritten serial (and no dealer stamp) I wouldn't value it as highly as one of the styles I mentioned earlier, but each to their own of course.

Incoming Philistine alert comment from me !!!! - those are rare gilt, and not in bad shape.... I'd get them filled and colour matched at SHWR, as replacement would be £2000 plus! I've put my tin hat on for the rebuffing/rebuking !
