Just got the call on a 126715CHNR

Howdy folks,

Just got the call on the option to buy a 126715CHNR... However, 6 months ago I bought a rose gold Yachtmaster with a black dial. They both look a little similar and I like contrast in my collection.

What do you you folks think? Should I buy or leave?

Cheers,
Doylum

They are as similar as they are beautiful. Personally I would only want one of the two, and more contrast for a second.

If I had to ask whether to buy, I would personally pass. Good luck with your decision.

I would go for it. If you have the funds, why not expand the collection with a beautiful, hard to get watch from an AD.

Agreed, if you have to ask then imho let the next person waiting to get it. Let the AD know you;re looking for a bit more 'contrast' and provide a few examples of what you do desire :)

Similar quandary - I recently obtained a TT black bezel Sub, love it and now potentially a GMT Rootbeer is available to me. I'm worried they are too similar and think I might be better off holding for one of the steel GMTs. It hard as I do love the Rootbeer!

On board that if you are unsure then probably a pass.

However devils advocate sort of take. In my option while similar color tones and all they are very different watches. If you still like it I think you could add without any redundancy.

I don't think they're similar so that should not be a reason to pass.

But if you don't want it, don't buy it.

Pass and enjoy your YM. The next person on the list will love you and your AD will respect your honesty too.

Question OP, are you lefthanded and wear your timepiece on your right wrist? If not, then pass for (as posted earlier) something you truly desire.

The next person on the list might be an absolute scumbag for all you know, so why do him or her any favours?
OP, buy the watch and if you don't like it after a few months sell it, you won't lose any money.

I would get rid of that YM and add the CHNR so fast it would make your head spin.

I would buy the gmt first and compare it with the ym. You can always sell one if you find it too similar

Yeah, but at what cost?

The 126715CHNR will lose 10-20% in value as soon as it leaves the store .. That watch is now cheaper or can be acquired for the same price on the grey market vs AD ..

Not to mention the YM .. That watch is way sub MSRP

What?? Are you trying to say that the trade value for the CHNR is as low as £10800? Not true at all. You will definitely get your money back on the CHNR, might even get enough on top for a nice dinner with the Mrs.

BINGO!

I am wearing my 715 today. Love this watch. As to RG I am a massive fan, own 3 Rolex models in RG, 515, 715, and 935, still need a 505 but the YM is a no for me. The no end link bit is a no go for me.

So I'd say bye bye to the YM and get the CHNR with the quickness

You quoted the wrong CHNR .. The op is talking about the full gold version while you are talking about the two tone version ..

You don't sound like you're really loving it, therefore I would pass. Since you have the YM and it's too similar, why buy it? Go for something completely different.

The hesitation is understandable, but therein lies the issue. Even if it's a AD, retail, offered Rolex, if you are unsure, don't do it.

But that's me. If I were hesitant, and I'm talking about a $16k investment, I would want to get something that jumps up at me as a must buy.

Let the watch go to someone who really wants the Root Beer.

Ah, sorry, my mistake. You are absolutely correct, you'd be lucky to only lose 10% on that.

Are you thinking about the VTNR? How does being left handed factor in?

Probably they can co-exist in a collection so if you can swing it why not !

Damn if you weren’t in the uK I’d buy it from you or your AD as I’ve been looking for one.

For me I think they are different enough that they both can coexist in a collection. I would buy it, but if you don’t want it leave it for another.
