Lorilil Jewelers Queens NY Lost AD Status =(

Greg & Lisa were great to deal with unfortunately they have lost their AD status. They were told Queens does not have enough high end boutique luxury shopping and it does not fit in their portfolio. The continuation of shutting down the small mom & pop for the large multis continues.

I try and tell everyone on here, don’t waste your time with "relationships" as you can wake up one day and all your spend/time/gifts/hopes/prayers are down the drain.

Good Luck Lorilil you got a great staff and I wish you all nothing but success even without the crown!

So sad for such a great AD and an even greater family to have lost their status (it actually happened in Q1). I truly wish them all the best moving forward and continue to keep in touch with them on a regular basis from the friendship we've formed.

I've been a long time client and while it's definitely disheartening that they've lost their status, I was able to mark some of the most important occasions of my life with watches they sold to me. While surely one could say I've "lost" more than those who were not as committed clients, I also came away with a whole host of desirable pieces that I'm very proud of. So to me, while yes I've lost the ability to continue purchasing new pieces from them, I've come away with many pieces in return which I don't view as a loss (even from a financial point of view the value I'm coming away with from the pieces I've obtained far outweighs the amount of money put into the relationship).

Sad, but another one bites the dust. The typical rationale..... you no longer fit our profile. With Rolex consolidating to all the big, multi-unit, upscale operations in high-end locations it's only a matter of time before the trickle down of the new image begins to cut us poor schlubs out for more worthy customers to be graced with an allocation.

I never made it out to their store but was aware that a mom and pop dealer still existed in the outer boroughs.
In a similar story, I had had some history with a small independent in Tyler, TX, Susan Robinson Jewelers. They survived years of purges and early this year the owners retired and closed shop. I wondered if maybe just maybe a new AD might come on board, it’s a small city market but with a fair amount of regional wealth. Six months later a new AD in the area seems doubtful.

PS: surprised to see there are still ADs in Brooklyn and on Staten Island.

Maybe this is Rolex's plan all along Move further up market to where the stores can sell all kinds of expensive stuff and anoint the big spenders with an occasional Rolex to keep them hooked on spending. Rolex can sell everything they make in this scenario with a much smaller AD network.
My AD is exceptional but they're not in a metropolitan city. I'd be bummed but not shocked if Rolex pulled their status and with that the likelihood that I would ever be able to purchase a Rolex from an AD again.

That’s really sad to hear. Bought my first Rolex from them back in 2004. I still have it.

The other location is under different management, so it is not related to the loss in Queens.

Interesting. These two stores share a website and I always thought they were the same company. The springfield store also has / had a small boutique in the casino nearby. Victor and Chris at the springfield store were always good to chat with about rolex. I’ve visited that location many times

I see someone already posted a story regarding this mom n pops shop.

I live only minutes from that shop n had a watch serviced there. I was even on the list for an explorer. I guess I won't be getting that call anytime soon.

Sad that Rolex did that, but no surprise. Companies do stupid s*** like that when they get big in the game.

That’s crap, there is plenty of money and upscale buyers to easily support a AD there. This is another internal move pushing the brand more upscale in exclusivity.

I believe the owners and their staff should pivot to repurpose those display cases.

Branding it like LCPO Swiss Watches, and adding inventory, and following the model of DavidSW (or other similarly successful resellers) this shop could disprove RolexUSA Marketing.

Plus, there is no limit on the Swiss brands they might offer side by side - something Rolex would have prohibited.

Lemons to lemonade methinks.

Carat and Company in nearby Flushing has many high end brands, has never carried Rolex, and apparently does very well.

I have been to the Springfield location. I wonder what kind of allocations they get as it’s not exactly a prosperous city or surrounding area.

The process of shopping for a Rolex, from walking in to a store with sparse cases, snarky or uninformed sales people, who at best ignore you and often treat new customers dismissively, discouraging two year wait lists, slight of hand allocation policies, leveraging unwanted jewelry or other products, and fewer outlets to reduce consumer buying choices, makes one weary.

People must feel like Dorothy and her buddies knocking on the door of the Emerald Palace, asking to see the Wizard and cowering in fear as they are told “Go away!! The Wizard doesn’t want to see you!”

Gerald Peters on SI is top notch. I have had a great experience there, and so have referrals I’ve sent

I deal with Gerald Jr and he is a great guy. Straight shooter, no fluff or BS.
