Thoughts on this Vacheron & Constantin- looks off to me.

Came across this watch, and without any knowledge or too much history on it, this looks like a fake to me. The dial, the numerals… to name a few. Am I missing something? What are your thoughts on this watch?

It could be original, I have a very similar one.
The design appears to be the late 40's / early 50's.
The minute hand has been replaced or repaired.

The one thing that bothers me, is that the corner of the case looks like it is gold filled and is worn through. I cannot tell if it is that or just really dirty.

I would expect it to be 18k solid gold. Are there any marks on the bracelet?
If you opened the back and took a photo of the movement and the inside of the case back, we could probably figure it out.

Thanks for the quick reply Milgauss88

I did not get a chance to see it in person, and the pictures I received didn’t show any marking on the bracelet. I also didn’t get any pictures of the movement. The person that sent those to me figured I would be interested and the price they are selling it for, but I saw red flags everywhere. I guess I’m just not too familiar with such early era watches.

Would you mind sharing a picture of the one you have?
Thanks.

I guess my hallmarks were on the inside of the case as well.

These are ladies watches, you realize?
Not sure if your seller explained that.
I paid a little over scrap gold price for mine.

Thanks for the pictures. They are very similar indeed.

Yeah, it was going for scrap gold price so it wasn’t anything crazy priced.
I passed on it due to the conditions and work I would have to do to it for my wife to wear it.

Some interesting stuff that is out there for sure.

Cheers

It looks like it is just gold plated. In any case condition is really an issue with this watch.

No, it’s interesting to look on there but I’d be hesitant to buy anything.
